I guess they could if they wanted to. But they've already stated that they'll try to work with the guilds in this instance. Very few people that work in film want to actually burn bridges in the industry. Hollywood is very quick to throw people out on the curb when lawsuits or spiteful buisn...

IIRC, I thought the LotR trilogy deliberately had no organized labor involved in any part of their production at all, as that was some extra perk of it all being filmed entirely in NZ as opposed to elsewhere It depends on the guild. Very few productions have completely guild free talent. I don'...

Haha! A month. That's cute.

Various film guilds boycott The Hobbit. Doomsday is on Monday. It's looking really bad for this movie.

holy shit! delivered :D I didn't even make the "horror film --> halloween" connection, either. I keep forgetting we're already this far into October. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Though, I have to admit, I've never seen that movie. Mainly due to its rarity and my...

HNNNNG and UGGUUUU My comprehension level dropped. Significantly. You know, normal people (as normal as us film buffs can get) around this time of year would review the best horror films in history. I wouldn't mind seeing The Shining or The Exorcist going up on the blog for some Hallowe...

Wasn't really satisfying, but wasn't bad enough to put in the unsatisfying thread either. So you decide. Will also probably go up on the film blog later. Splice [Copperheart Entertainment; Gaumont; Dark Castle Entertainment; Warner Bros.; Steve Hoban; Guillermo del Toro; Vincenzo Natali] 3/5...

For an officer getting injured? An officer of the law that risks his life on a daily basis to keep the streets safe from terrible people just waiting to hurt others!? And you applaud this just because it delays a summer blockbuster? What the hell? :um: Oh, this by no means delays the movie's re...

The film crew must be really sloppy if they had two car accidents in one movie.

The use of counterpoint (or maybe cognitive dissonance would be a better term) between music and film, and it's initial effect on the audience, is one of my favorite studies in the art of filmmaking. Most of the time, a musical composition beneath violent imagery make the violence strong...

Cinema is industry, not art, right Mister MGM? Hahaha! Well, it's an industry that's dependent on art and vise versa. No one has to say it's good art, it just need to be "profitable art". (Whatever that means...) It's also one of the many reasons why there are more...

At the time the school had Panasonic HVX200 camera models that used P2 cards. I shot on those for both Sweet Sixteen and Live Action Anime . I've seen these models used to shoot stuff from news broadcasts to TV shows for The Discovery Channel to Cloverfield , so I was pretty confidant in them. T...

Thanks, dude! I've been wondering if it was worth spending 9 months to shoot the film. The shooting was originally slated only 2 months, but when all of the actors are working on a volunteer basis you change to accommodate them. (9 months to shoot a film about babies. Heh. :smirk: ) I ev...

FreakyFilm's Freaky Films

Some of you know of my YouTube account. Some of you may have even browsed all 3 videos I have up there. I've made more and don't have them all online yet. But I had nothing better to do today, so I decided to create a new account on Vimeo and post my unreleased "Student Masterpiece"...
