Pity that people view all this as a negative aspect of his character. Just because someone cannot control their fear does not make them a bad person, though it is a character flaw I suppose. I'm arguing quite the opposite - that he doesn't really show fear (or at least fear or the exter...

Doesn't the original Japanese name for the angels mean something closer to a "divine messenger" rather than an angel as we might think of it? Is this another case of us being thrown off by our in built preconceptions of christian nomenclature? Yes; shito is a closer translation of Apo...

Like the Pinball Wizard, they probably play by sense of smell...

Or maybe they have some AT-field based sense of perception.

@the_seventh_child

Yes - the blonde look suits you. It's much clearer in the second photo.

@AchtungAffen

If I look Fuyutsuki-like, that's because his birthdate is only a few months before mine.

@Digitalex

That was the idea :D

maybe it taps into zero point energy? That's my guess - as I put it elsewhere, Asuka's summary of the situation at the end of "Rebirth"... Oh, wonderful. Nine units with super-symmetry engines harvesting power from the quantum zero point fluctuations. And I'm on batteries that...

You're TRYING to give me strange ideas, aren't you? :D Here, take them, I don't want them... :D I think it actually inspired me to use the motif on my angel character Azazel She looks like something Lovecraftian - possibly with a hint of Olaf Stapledon's take on starfish derived hum...

Is there some sort of cultural institution or arrangement peculiar to Japan that might explain all this? Were the children of aristocrats sent away from home in times past perhaps? I don't know about Japan, but it was common in parts of Europe for the children of aristocrats to be sent away to ...

Actually, Anno managed to miss a neat trick in defining the second S in S^2 as Solenoid, when he could have increased the rubber-science level by having it be super- symmetric i.e. latching on to one of the strands of Grand Unification. That might also give a way of explaining all the other peculiar...

GAH! NO!! Going by this logic, all species on Earth would be genetically compatible with one another. Despite claims in tabloids to the contrary, this is, of course, complete nonsense. At this point, of course, one has to hand wave and say that Reticulan cats would interbreed with Terrestrial ones,...

Nobody ever cuts Shinji any slack. I think a certain scene in Air might be partially responsible(see how clever it was). Yes, though the certain scene I have in mind is the one in the NERV underground car-park and having to be dragged around by Misato to try and get his sorry ass out of the...
