In comparison with text, even modestly sized images are HUGE - and recently people seem to have lost the discipline of sizing images to be no larger than necessary (this is not a comment about this forum in particular, but all the forums I frequent). So there could quickly be an impact on ho...

If mods really need to know about PMs they get shown the contents by the recipients concerned quick enough; I've had to ban a user (edit: on another forum) on the basis of PMs - it can happen!

If phpBB is anything like the SMF which I administrate, there is not likely to be any mechanism within the forum software to see other people's PMs, even for admins. But of course, if anyone can get at the database directly from outside the forum software, then anything is possible (with a g...

that's how my mind works, whatever that's supposed to mean. Different people like or expect stories to be told in different ways, is all I meant. I was probably trying to prompt a separation of the extent to which either (1) you didn't like the story, or (2) you didn'...

When you're developing and extending a theory it gets tedious real fast to qualify every statement you make again and again. Most of the time the context makes it clear enough - there's plenty of places where we say we don't know this or that or anything for certain.

Sites with links to other sites that have bad code on can get black-listed, notably by Google; and some AV and similar security packages pick this up and report on the basis of it. This caused a number of webcomics to be flagged by some software yesterday as bad after an ad server got hacked (se...

So the specific expectations that you had which were not fulfilled are more important to you than responding to what the director is actually trying to do? Fine, if that's the way your mind works. But sure, it's hard to take at first, yet you can see that it's very well done once you acc...

The description is translated in the thread linked above:

Google gives 使徒封印用呪詛文様 as "Apostle Sealing curse pattern" so it seems to be the typical Gainax/khara Kanjiflood way of saying some straightforward as Anti-Angel Runes.

Well, my virus checker at home (Eset NOD32, which I trust more than the work one) is letting it in. The work one (Sophos) might be doing a look-up at Google, if my experience yesterday is anything to go by.

The conclusion may or may not be right; but evidence there is - in the form of the Angel-sealing runes on the eye-patch. I find it hard to imagine they were put there without reason, but you are free to suggest a different reason if you can find a convincing one!

While trying to record sample organ pieces this evening for a talk I'm giving on Saturday (on the organ in my study ), I was repeatedly interrupted to deal with messages about the QC website and forum being hacked. In fact, an advertising network which supplies ads to a number of w...
