At this point, a Tetsuo: The Iron Man ending would probably make the most sense: Shinji and Gendo, united by their hatred of hunanity, merge with Unit 01 and leave on a wacky roadtrip to destroy the universe together.

I don't object to them using the song, but I do object to them rewriting it into an advertisement for their religion. That does cross a line, I think. Doesn't one of their pamphlets or somesuch talk about theft? Before we know it, Churches will be utilizing Cohen's "Hallelujah"...

He knew this from his guardians. Were he to become suddenly willful and wild, they would be at a loss on how to react, and most likely choose negatively. In a long stretch of consistent action, though, his simple demands appeared reasonable. In such context he found ways of making sure they could n...

Continuing chapter one: In response to reader criticism, we have decided to completely retool the FFS concept! From now on, we will strive to give fair and balanced criticism, lest anyone think we are hostile to geek culture or forty-chapter odes to board game fetishism. Also, all riffs will now be ...

It bears repeating that we're not pretending to be Charles Bhepin's therapist or creative writing teacher. If you want "No Negativity" and "constructive criticism," there's always TV Tropes, but watch out for the pedos.

Eh...I think most of the negative feedback stems from a certain fixed idea of what a "riff" should be: i.e., done in the form of a "skit" and fundamentally sympathetic to the stuff we poke fun at, neither of which would really fit our style well. Though labeling our individual co...

Oswald Adventuresworth among the Apaches

Facing a scandal at home due to the continued machinations of Lord Willmore, my enemy in Parliament, I decided to give myself once again to that fickle, whorish mistress, Lady Adventure! Having already explored the Near East under the name Omar ben Al-Bakar, caused the extinction of seven varieties ...

NGE has some pretty glaring problems, e.g. its inability to maintain a consistent tone, George Lucas-esque dialogue, and dubious gender politics, but from what I remember, this reviewer's complaints mainly amounted to "This show contradicts my theistic worldview." Meh.

I pointed those themes out to my Democratic older brother and he totally disagreed that they were there at all. Even I wasn't so sure; I only guessed as much because I had read on TVTropes and Cracked that they were there in the previous one. So it's also a matter of, not everyone even sees...

Yes, I'm new here, forgive me for my sudden and momentary lapse into peace, hope, and kindness. Well, to be fair, I realize that on a site where most of us, I think, are pretty avid consumers of genre fiction, I realize that our criticism of stories like "Father" is, on some level, a ...

You say that you were going for humor, but it just came across as cruel, vindictive, and mean-spirited, which I really hoped was not the intent Well, cruelty is in our review group's mission statement. and hoped that I would never find in the Eva community. You must be new here. Also, I just re...

Part two: Now we synchronize ourselves with the world imagined by Anno, in Tokyo-3 in 2015. The town without a shadow of life (the world of animation) has become a little bit more bright thanks to the arrival of immigrants having seen Eva. But on the other hand, it is a fact that the anime f...

To everyone who posted in this thread: http://i.imgur.com/Tw234.jpg This was an obvious troll post, a pastiche of every terrible egf thread in existence. I threw in a gratuitous reference to post-structuralism for maximum damage. The fact that this thread has gone on for five pages proves that my pa...

Misato killed Kaji

In NGE fandom, it is nigh-universally accepted that Kaji was killed by an anonymous agent working for either Seele or Gendo. This reading is, of course, supported by an old Anno interview in which the director says just that. However, evidence from the text itself is extremely flimsy, especially in ...

It's quite possible that what we'll come to think of as "Rebuild Asuka" has not yet been revealed. Given that the whole point of her story in 2.0 was to expose her to Bardiel, that seems as likely as anything. I know this was several pages back, but this post makes no sense in num...
