If it's USan culture, it would be USan etiquette too.

If you have learned the rough meanings of the use of homorifics, then it gives an extra insight into how the characters think of each other.

Asuka, actually. Identification with Kozo came more on later reflection.

Because that's proper english grammar, just like how in the dub they don't use suffixes whenever they say someone's name. It's another big-endian/little-endian convention thing, like the way the US quotes month/day (big-endian) while this side of the pond day/month (litt...

Asuka as foster daughter would be out of asense of obligation. Kozo would be someone I could go out and get wasted with, while we had a good rant about women.

But, provided she gave up on the filthy weed, I'd opt for Ritsuko - she goes for bearded guys, after all :P

How is my fandom - well, it has quieted down over the last couple of years, the way that love does. NGE was not quite the first anime I saw, and is far from the last; it isn't the only anime for which I've written fics, but it is the one I wrote because I had to, rather than wanted to. What ...

The Sohryu name would be handed down as the last "real" (i.e. Japanese) surname on the family tree. Kyoko was a scientist, and thus likely for professional reasons would have kept her name unchanged after marriage. That's if Langley hadn't already divorced her before death,...

Yes, it is confusing.

In Europe or America, it would conventionally be Langley, her father's surname. But as he's a gaijin, in Japan, she'd use what would there be considered to be her real surname, Sohryu.
