Re: Forum Wackiness

If it's not fixed after the next update, then it'll be worth looking into.

(Said update will have to wait until my current spate of interviews is over.)

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

After a brief dry spell, not one, but two interviews suddenly rolled in this week. One of them's at a company I'm less than enthusiastic about, but the other is at one that sounds like a really cool place to work -- an indie studio led by some really experienced guys, which sounds like a great way t...

Re: "Like post" system?

Actually, we're due for another major update to the forum software that I wanted to have done before I start my new job in April, and I wouldn't be surprised if that came built-in or had an off-the-shelf extension for it.

Do you really not have any other ID? I thought it took 2 (or a passport) to be legally employable in the US because of the I-9 form.

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

:kaos_bow: Thanks everyone. It's a good position to be in; one way or another, barring unforeseen circumstances, my chronic joblessness is coming to an end. This will be my entry not just to the game industry but to compensated employment at all. Whether I work at this company or (preferably) get a ...

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

The offer hasn't been formally presented It happened. I had mixed feelings until I read the contract in detail. My misgivings were many. Technically, I'm not actually going to be employed by the company I'll be working for, but rather by a temp agency that they contract with. The pay is an insult t...

It wasn't a poem, it was a parody of Lobster Magnet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjtVsYqAR3s

You got a lobster and you got a magnet
Lobster has antennae but don't you grab it!
Magnet's made of iron
Lobster made of MEAT!

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

By complete random luck, I spotted a recent tweet by the lead engineer of Unknown Worlds Entertainment looking for a contract worker to work on Subnautica, one of my favorite games. I reached out to him by email and now we're talking. I don't know if it'll go anywhere, but I'll be reeeally happy if ...

Re: Default Emoticon Set Discussion

Aaand I finally got around to implementing the rest of those changes. (Of which there turned out to be... one.)

It took like 5 minutes. (My solution was to just edit the database directly to add the one emoticon that refused to show up.)

I'll be in a very good-problem-to-have situation It happened. The offer hasn't been formally presented, but the HR person told me that the team would like to "move forward" with me, and given that I've completed the interview process, that implies that the offer is next. But Wargaming is ...

Serious Discussion has been permanently locked

The staff have decided that we will no longer be supporting the Serious Discussion subforum, for the following reasons: ⋅ As we are an ideologically heterogeneous community, EGF does not officially "pick a side" on certain hot-button issues, which increases the difficulty of mode...
