Re: [Music] Songs on repeat

Dark Halls (Awful bassline and drums aside, I really like the instrument used for the melody; some kind of square wave with an echo, I think? Anyway, I can totally imagine that melody, or the instrument, being used in the bottom of a dark cave full of mangled limbs) Note: this shit is impossible to...

Re: "We'll treat you very well"

Shinji: LIARS!! You're all just hiding behind a smile! You just want to keep things ambiguous! Rei: Because the truth hurts us all... Because it's very, very distressing. Shinji: But ambiguity only makes me insecure. Rei: That's just an excuse... Shinji: But it makes me afraid... Afraid that I won'...

Re: How Evangelion Gets Away With Being Terrible

You don't like the movies That's not true though. I never said the movies were bad or that I didn't like them. I think that you are assuming that's the case because of my response to the OP, so I guess I should have been a bit more clear than that: there are a few decisions with the plot in the Reb...

Re: How Evangelion Gets Away With Being Terrible

The reason why the video doesn't answer the question it asked itself ("How does Evangelion get away with being so bad?") is because the very question is based on a false premise. It would be like me making a video titled "How does air get away with being so unbreathable?" I woul...

In relation to Shogi, he needs to not make the fourth repetition, but instead figure out a new strategy.

That much we can agree on. And I'll honestly be more surprised if Anno doesn't do this in some form.

Re: How Evangelion Gets Away With Being Terrible

^ I really appreciate the thought that went into this video, and agree with the concept that the writers of NTE (Anno included) are self-aware of their pandering to the audience. But I think you could look at if from a more "optimistic" perspective if you wanted to: 3.0 + 1.0 hasn't come ...

Re: The game of Shogi: a view on characters and plot in Rebuild

- Repetition : [I'll quote Wikipedia here] "If the same game position occurs four times with the same player to move, either player loses if his or her moves during the repetition (sennichite) are all checks (perpetual check), otherwise the game is considered a draw. However, in Shogi a draw i...

Re: Anyone else feel dislike towards EoE nowadays?

I think it's mainly the switch from action to the credits and then introspections that slow down the movie a lot, basically to the point of a complete stop until the very end. Alright, I gotchu. I mean, to be honest, I have trouble seeing it from that perspective, but I do get how a shift in pacing...

Ah, I see. That's the best part though! I mean, isn't EoTV really just one long introspective sequence? Or is more the contrast between action and introspection that's the problem?

Re: Anyone else feel dislike towards EoE nowadays?

You shouldn't be sarcastic. It's true. He strikes again! Never change, Stillborn. There are some objective flaws like the pacing that commits suicide after the credits I'm actually not sure what you mean here in regards to pacing. Mind elaborating a bit? some choices and scenes I personally...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Attack on Titan S2 was actually better than the first season, imo. The main characters of this season got way more fleshed out so that when the big action-y parts happen, there is a lot more to get involved in. So much time is spent on character development, (a little too much at points; the show s...

Re: Anyone else feel dislike towards EoE nowadays?

He could have gotten his ass in gear when the first alert sounded (you know, when they were shifting Asuka from her hospital bed to EVA-02), rather than waiting to suicide by JSSDF. Okay, yeah. You're right there. But with that being said, he had no way of knowing what was going to happen to Asuka ...

Re: GNR got her head cut off BEFORE asking Shinji!

The dream --> reality --> dream, is actually somewhat a cycle. As clarified earlier, Shinji searches for his happiness in his dreams, which consists of images he's pulled from his reality (the live action version of Misato, Asuka, Rei). However, in order to make the happiness of his dreams a realit...

Re: Anyone else feel dislike towards EoE nowadays?

He says that doesn't want to pilot the EVA because he fears hurting people, yet he let Asuka die in the most horrible way possible because... he just decided it? Are you serious? This comment confuses me. How exactly did he have a choice in saving Asuka? Eva-01 was covered in bakelite and Yui only ...

Re: NemZ Has Passed Away

I've always seen NemZ as part of the very essence of this place, ever since I started lurking here; and so it's rather surreal to hear that he's passed. I did not know him well, but he was so unique from everybody else that it did not take long for him to set a very clear impression of himself for m...

For all we know his upper half exploded into tang in the "real world" and the rest of him is just taking a bit longer, like Maya's hand - he was supposed to just melt in the draft. Maya is proof that a person can be tanged while still leaving a part of their physical body behind. Good poi...

Ah, the movie, uh, it creates a normal ending... sort of. Brilliant. This whole video was pretty great, especially the part where he has to avoid giving away his identity while discussing Eva. Thanks for sharing this. I find it especially fascinating, through, when he says this: I've only had one e...

I think it depends on what you define as being good science-fiction.
For me, personally, the more time I spend on this forum the more this question predominantly answers "no."
