Re: Sword Art Online! Any fans here? xD
Because Spielberg is currently directing an adaptation of Ready Player One and Hollywood, predicting that it'll probably be a massive hit, is picking up similar properties to ride on the coattails of its success. Can't say that doesn't make sense. Hollywood will be Hollywood. "For years I have...

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE
^Jesus Christ, this is such a fucking excellent answer. You perfectly conveyed exactly what Eva is about. Congratulations. It's a freaking endless onion and that's amazing. Hmm, I feel if I go any further I'll just be channeling Yoshitoh " Eva can be eaten" Asari, so, here we go . Also, I ...

Did you really hate Ritsuko from day 1? I mean, I know she doesn't treat the pilots very well, but there are other aspects to her character, I think. In other words, is that hyperbole, or do you mean that literally?

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE
Though to me that presence seems a bit more detatched. It's more like in the Cthulhu mythos where the aliens are almost incomprehensible and while humans care about them there isn't much of the same the other way around. Lilith is the origin of humanity and she does act but most of the time she has...

Re: do you think anno would have made EoE if the backlash hadn't been as bad?
What's in the preview isn't an "early draft" at all. It shows parts of Air's animatic, that is, a mock-up put together with key frame animation and layout drawings. Oh, I see. I guess I should go watch Shirobako and learn about some of this stuff. :uhh: In all likelihood, the original ver...

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE
But the FAR are very subtly hinted in the series and in fact even the game doesn't really imply that they're present in any way in the story, they might be long gone. Yeah in hindsight, I shouldn't have mentioned the FAR as much as I did. I think the point that I was trying to make is that somethin...

Re: do you think anno would have made EoE if the backlash hadn't been as bad?
That preview is for the video version of episode 24, which was released after EoE came out. The televised version of episode 24 has a preview for TV episode 25. What the heck, really? I had always thought that what they showed in that preview was early drafts of what the original episode 25 would l...

Okay, thank god; I'm not crazy. It really IS the best.
Thanks for clearing my conscience.

Re: Souls Series (Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne)
I'm playing through Bloodborne for my first time right now, and I love it to pieces. But for some reason I'm really enamored with just one subtle feature: all the blood that covers my character. I can't tell you why, but getting my Hunter's clothes soaked in blood, turning the sheath of Ludwig's Hol...

Re: Who's your favorite Eva character?
Shinji Ikari Most fleshed-out, developed character in the series. But I suppose that's a common benefit of being the main protagonist. More importantly though, I can relate to him the most on a personal level, and that's what makes NGE truly great in my eyes. Edit: also Pen-pen because he is the sol...

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE
Anno has said that he pretty much improvised the show when Gainax was having early money problems. I always forget about that. It's odd though; despite Anno having said this, quantum Rei was present during the very first episode . And this was not addressed until EoE, an entire two years later. I'm...

Re: Favorite Video Games
I played Journey about a week-and-a-half ago and I've decided it's my favorite game I'v played yet. It's just amazing the wide range of emotions that game is able to cover with such a simple all-around design. I couldn't stop thinking about it after I played it for the first time; and to my amazemen...

Re: Favorite Eva Music
Komm süßer Tod makes me feel things that I can't really feel by listening to any other song. That and Expansion of Blockade (Japanese name: Heisoku no Kakudai), are two songs that can really help me get through some tough times, and I thank Eva for that.

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE
1. I've thought about this a lot, and I think the story/lore of the series adds a number of aspects to eva as a whole. For one, the FAR backstory really creates this feeling of a near-omnipotent power hovering over the entire show. The angels, too, are on a level of existence seemingly quite far fro...

Re: Who's your least favorite Evangelion character?
Just try to think of it this way, the first is the kind of character you'd like to read and explore in fiction, the second is the type you'd enjoy haning out/befriending/dating in real life. Yeah, that's a pretty good way of looking at it. I really like Gendo as a character, but if he was a real pe...

Re: Who's your least favorite Evangelion character?
I've always tried to distinguish what constitutes between a well written/developed character vs a likable character. Personally, I find most characters that I deem to be well written also to be likable. Thus, I really don't "dislike" any of the NGE characters in any real way. There are a f...

Re: How is the guard stabbed in EoE
I've always thought that the guy was a double-agent.
a.k.a. he worked for both the NERV guard personnel as well as the JSDF. That is obviously just a fanwank though. I think the point of the stabbing was ultimately to get a cool-looking shot, which in my opinion, it was.
