I've been thinking the same thing. There's been too much discussion of the shipping, and not enough discussion of the other events that happen in the movie.

It shows Shinji sleeping in a warehouse or factory and Asuka is looking over him. Since she's wearing a jacket and no pants, I think that takes place in the village. It is straight from the village scene, as per above. Speaking of the village scene, I'm sort of confused about what all goes on there...
