Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
Huh. What made them decide to redub it, then? I recall some criticism of the quality at the time. Unfortunately, you had to actually see it in theaters and remember it well. I didn't, so I can't compare them. It was apparently adequate, but they weren't happy with it. Wait, there were episodes of N...

Re: Is blood heavier than LCL?
In EoE we see Asuka bleeding heavily from her eye and the blood is sinking, but I can't recall any other scenes from the series where someone bleeds inside an entry plug. In 1.11 Shinji bleeds inside the plug but the blood floats around him like in water. Anyone know if there's any more scenes wher...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
ADV had to redub stuff once after getting it wrong in their initial release ("brain damage" was changed to "brain contamination" in Episode 2, for example) According to Matt Greenfield, I believe on one of the Platinum audio commentaries, that was literally the only thing Gainax...

Re: [RUMOR] Hideaki Anno directing Shin Ultraman
Please keep in mind, this is a tabloid we are talking about. Don't get overly excited (yay Anno Ultraman), or overly angry (as some think it means Eva delays). It's not official, and it's too early to get upset. Also, splitting this from the Shin Eva - Official Social Media thread for obvious reasons.

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
maybe he plainly didn't care. That seems like conjecture. Sure, he had creative differences with the mangaka of Kare Kano, but the timing of his production of Love & Pop doesn't support the idea that he quit, left, or didn't care about the anime industry. During that time, he did make some smal...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
Fun Eva Fact: The only English release company the Evangelion rights holders DID NOT take issue with was Manga Entertainment. Remind me what this is based on. It's very standard in that industry for translations, scripts, and dub work to go through some sort of approval. Not to mention communicatio...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
^ Oh Christ, please no... I didn't want to think that man! Entirely possible, it took five years for Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion to come out in English, and at least two years behind schedule. They were in Manga Entertainment's "2000" reel, but didn't come out until mid-...

Minor correction: According to the Platinum booklets, which should be a translation from Renewal, it was an internegative . Now, concerning some of the scenes in Episode Sixteen and the previews, the orig...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
Here's something to think about: what if the release slides to summer or fall because they try to appease fans of the dub by getting some of the original cast back, and try to figure out who to cast from the multiple actors who have played certain characters? Remember how long it took to get Death &...

Re: [Film] Alita: Battle Angel
Don’t forget the international market. Also, if Cameron wants another one, it will get made. I didn't forget, I looked at domestic and international ticket sales, did a quick calculation of returns, and figured that the film is probably only about 75% to breaking even. My understanding is that with...

Been listening to two albums a good bit lately. First, saw Chromelodeon get back together to play MAGFest. so I've been listening to their album The Final Recordings . It's pretty good if you like chip rock, in particular, been digging the closing track Triangular . Also, been listening to FM-84's a...

Re: [Film] Alita: Battle Angel
I'm sad it kinda bombed on box office. Yeah, it's a little disappointing. After doing some vague math, it looks like they're about 75% to breaking even. That's not taking into account the long tail of home video, streaming, etc. And it's also not taking into account the marketing budget, which is a...

Re: [Film] Alita: Battle Angel
Saw Battle Angel a few days ago. Enjoyable, but disposable, and definitely not worth $13.50 to go see.
They did a pretty good job with it, but a major complaint is that if you've ever seen the anime OAV, the ending is already spoiled for you.
I'd give it a C+/B-.

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media
So we have some sites running news now that khara has just entered actual production on Evangelion 3.0+1.0, as if the past two years have only been development, which does not seem to reflect the fact that they've hired multiple rounds of animation staff that have reported to khara's offices well in...

Re: Eva Store pilots popularity survey
It's so weird to break up the list like this. I can see giving Rei Q her own slot, but otherwise, I don't see the point in (for example) breaking Kaworu up into three slots when he had only 1-2 lines total in 1.0 and 2.0.
