Would a currently available external BD drive be able to play these with any certainty, or would it be a crapshoot? I ask because, surprise surprise, my BD drive can't read them (that's more common than not IME). I'm wondering if getting a new drive is worth the trouble, or if I...

The credit-less OP? FWIW, Squall who did ripping/subbing for our EGF-ish NTE films plans on doing the same for these sets. Apparently his DVD set has been seriously backlogged (40 days or some such thing!) with arriving, though. :( /cry.... My Blu-ray Box Set and Archives Box set are de...

Then why include three versions of Death, while omitting a version of the DC eps? Marketing, probably. The pre-renewal Director's Cut episodes are already available. The other versions of Death have never been released before. I agree, it seems strange to not release all versions in what is an ...

Pardon my ignorance but I never knew they were 3 different versions of death. Could someone explain this to me? If I remember correctly, the original Death, as shown in cinemas, is the longest cut. It incorporated most(?) of the new footage from the Director's Cut episodes. Death(Tr...

They will not be in the same set. They will be released simultaneously in two separate sets. The Blu-ray Box will have all of the new remasters and the Archive Box will have all of the original masters. To comment on your choice of redubs, a "good" actor can bring the same emotion on comma...

Neon Genesis Evangelion was cel animated and shot on 16mm film with a 1.33:1 Academy ratio. Any HD remaster will require new scans of the film (unless the scans from the Renewal masters are of high enough quality) and more post processing of the images to smooth scene jumps (still presen...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion Fullsize OP Translations

Sanninme is "third", so probably "I am the third one" would be better. (Just saying "I am one of three" could mean you're the first, second, OR third.) I was originally going to use "The Third is me". "Onna to shite" would be "as a ...

Neon Genesis Evangelion Fullsize OP Translations

After finally watching the Test Type DVD (yeah I know, I never got around to it), I wondered what the title cards were flashing. After crawling through this site and the internet, I managed to find several frames done by Reichu as well as this topic (http://forum.evageeks.org/thread/1147...

I'm not hating on anybody. It just shows how little Funimation actually cared to credit the people that actually made the movie. Instead, they only credit themselves for the first half and then the key people involved for the second half. They don't even list the title of the song that's...

Actually, I have both versions; DVD and Blu-ray. Each Omit Scene on the DVD version was fully subtitled as well. You may want to try it on a different player.

So I've finally gone through scouring the RA-US Blu-ray for it's technical details. Video Contains a clean video track that does not have the Japanese translations burned into the screen. It is offset by 48 frames in the beginning and then adds about 200 frames to the end for authoring credi...

Well this is strange. It seems as though the Japanese TrueHD audio on the American Blu-ray is in a higher quality than the Japanese TrueHD audio on the Japanese Blu-ray.

The Japanese disc still has the superior video quality.

Haven't watch the subtitles yet, but the first 10 minutes of the dub are reminding me of End of Evangelion. "Just fucking die!" and the fact there is dub commentary, I'm almost afraid to finish it now. Though I am glad the used a clean copy of the video so there are no Japanese har...
