Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread
Normally I wouldn't bother posting something like this, but it points out there are a lot of missing scenes from the trailer that are absent from the movie. Is there any chance we'll ever see them? The trailers featured footage which was ultimately re-shot/re-done during the reshoots. There's also ...

Re: Nausicaa - Hideaki Anno Commentary
Anywho, I just found out their release of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind that comes out on October 31st will include the Japanese audio commentary with the film's assistant director Kazuyoshi Katayama & lead animator HIDEAKI ANNO complete with subtitles. It should be noted that Anno's comme...

Re: Revolutionary Girl Utena
I hope the Blu-Ray set is brought over to Australia/NZ at some point, preferably with the movie included in the set (when the DVD remaster was released here 3-4 years ago, the movie was omitted, and at the time that was a deal-breaker).

Re: Revolutionary Girl Utena
I had a look over on the ohtori.nu forums and found some discussion about this recent article over on ann: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-05-26/revolutionary-girl-utena-gets-new-manga-chapter-in-july/.116631 According to the article, the original artist/author of the manga is releasing a ...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2
I flicked through the Whedon script and found out that the invisible jet is in it ... and of course, it's partially visible to the audience but invisible to the people who are actually the movie, so Steve Trevor has to "BONK" into it in the middle of the big monster action sequence in the ...

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I had worried that the announcement might be about new Diamond and Pearl games ... and although I am glad that isn't that case and that the games they've announced are actually set in Alola again, I am also hesitant about some details. - I do like the Alola region, and I do like the new spin on the ...

Re: Cowboy Bebop
I'd give a Live-action TV series of Cowboy Bebop a shot. I've gotta say, though, I've thought about this and I'm uncertain of what I'd like in a live-action adaptation. A recreation of the style a setting? Some pleasant little one-shot episodes? Well choreographed space-western action sequences? Or ...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread
I agree with Sachi on this one. I read the first ... fiver Captain Underpants books at around age 10/11, and as they were the among the few books I read seriously then I feel it's rather good that the series has been adapted into an animated film. I do remember feeling some cringe about the content ...

Re: Blade Runner franchise
Looks alright, I'll give it a shot.
... that is, hopefully after I re-read Androids (as I've only read it once and I feel it may be important here) and re-watch the final cut of Blade Runner (as I've seen the director's cut, but not the final .... I think).

Re: Last Movie You Watched
Watched Kubo and the Two Strings with my parents. Pretty good film, feel I can comfortably recommend this to anyone.
... Although it does remind me that I've still to see Laika's adaptation of Coraline, and given that I'm a fan of that I imagine I'll track that down one day soon.

Re: Whitewashing And Diversity In Hollywood?
Without a big name attached to it this movie would never have been made in the first place. No star = no budget, no budget = shit cgi, shit cgi = why bother remaking it at all? So no, nothing was lost at all by ScarJo taking that role because nobody, tea-making lady included, would have been cast f...

Re: Hollywood's "Ghost in the Shell"
Section 9 in the movie isn't shown as having Tachikomas - in fact, I don't recall Section 9 using any robots of their own. As with the first Oshii film, the Major and Batou tend to get around in armored vans or cars. I am inclined to say that there aren't Tachikoma's in the film as they probably wer...

Re: Hollywood's "Ghost in the Shell"
I saw the Hollywood adaptation today with my stepfather. I've seen the Oshii films a few times, as well as all of Stand Alone Complex (including the OVA), and read the original volume of the manga two or three times ... though that had all been about six or seven years ago, and so I am somewhat out ...

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I bought my copy of Pokemon Sun the other day, though I am planning on saving it til the new years. I have seen some Let's Plays online though, and the full scale 3D is quite impressive. I am quite pleased with the look of the interface and I feel that it's probably going to play smoother in long se...
