Ghost in the Shell 2, according to Rotten Tomatoes, only made $856,451. And half of that was people thinking that they were seeing The Grudge. However, its opening week average gross per theater was $6,760, which is about equal to the Grudge's average gross per theater during its second week. So...

I think I have to agree with Kaysow on this one. This is the same crap that George Lucas fed us before he re-released the original Star Wars trilogy. I just can't shake the feeling that the only reason this new series of movies exists is because they want money and can't come up with any go...

In episode 21, Fuyutski criticizes Gendo for his apparently large salary at NERV (or was it GEHIRN at that point?), implying that he is possibly involved in some sort of fraudulent activity. It seems that beyond that, the pay is similar to that of any other military entity (rock bottom&#...

Whether you think it will be a big, steaming pile doesn't change the fact that Rebuild is the way that this story was intended to be presented. That kinda marketing is complete bullshit. Evangelion, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Star Wars, it was all that it was. It was never INTENDED that it woul...

You can only take the "THIS IS NGE AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED!!!" stuff so far. Operation Yashima getting a total makeover to compensate for its previously limited status is straightforward renovation. But the claim that Webuild is somehow supposed to represent their 'original inte...

So this IS going to be an AU rewrite of the Series adn not a collection of side stories like I thought. This is going to turn into a great big steaming pile boys and girls. Whether you think it will be a big, steaming pile doesn't change the fact that Rebuild is the way that this story was inte...

Yeah, it most likely will never hit U.S. theaters. It makes me mad; they'll put Appleseed in theaters, but not the new Eva movies  Here's another horrifying thought: ADV will wait another 3 years to release the movies in any form so that they can use them as advanced press for their li...

Indeed. But I'm wondering if this element has a significance beyond that of being a narrative trope.

Angel Probability

Here's a question i've been pondering recently: why are the EVA's so triumphant in fighting the angels despite the high unlikeliness of the operations' success? For example, Ritsu puts the odds of Operation Yashima at less than 1%. And Misato put the odds of success against Sahaquiel...

Further proof that SEELE needs to expand their marketing budget. They should go with Nokia's slogan "connecting people", cuz that would be damn literal.

To make the connection between Anno and Lucas you'd have to have the "creation of racially stereotypical, obnoxious, despised by 99.98% of the fanbase, character" category.

I'm hoping for the introduction of Gendo's first attempt at cloning Yui. Y'know, the deformed one he keeps locked up in the attic and gives a bucket of half-rotten fish per week to. Seriously, it takes a few tries to get that blue hair down just right. Of course, I'm always open mind...

I think that SEELE's logo is a bit too elaborate. If it were any more complicated it'd be a coat of arms. Plus, the writing's in German. SEELE is alienating a huge percentage of its customer base. But who ever said that a global conspiracy of rapture-minded, cyborgian scientists had to b...
