Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
I wouldn't mind that in the context of a oneoff 20 minute highlight reel OVA or something; but a full animation project is going to be a massive amount of work, and even assuming that you completely ruin the pacing and jam pack the first two volumes in a feature length movie, you're still not going ...

(this is an aside - you don't need to preface everything with justifying why you like something that you like. We're all nerds here, if someone gives you grief for enjoying a thing that is not """high art""" or some other drool like that, they will quickly find themselv...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Please the fuck not. Anima does not deserve to bind that amount of money and ressources. Just do an Iconic Field OVA instead, or honestly literally any other project, it's functionally guaranteed to be better

Re: A very old documentary on Teilhard de Chardin shows an apocalypse that is strikingly similar to the Third Impact
This is a pretty fascinating find! One would need to see if there is any Japanese language coverage of it; Anno dug rather far and deep for weird esoteric nonsense to include in the theming, but the things that do and don't make it across the cultural barriers are very difficult to predict. Definite...

Re: Favorite Shinji's Voice?
The original, as far as I'm concerned. Megumi Ogata is simply the best VA out of those three, and received the best voice direction for their performance; I do not believe there is much competition there.

100%ed Sea of Stars; excellent game, no notes. Incredible time, all that's left is a run of NG+, but that will come later.
To quote the friend who introduced me to it - one of the best completionist experiences of my life. Highly recommend.

I'm just going to say this much: That is a remarkably bad foundation to build any sort of argument on, unless you have solid proof that what you're working off of is better.

Re: The Script for Rei and Kaworu at the Train Scene
Well, now we're talking about popular reception, rather than authorial intent; as Nuke laid out, the authorial intent is fairly clear as by the scene script, and I will trust the professional translator over any machine tool. Japanese fans often have a more informed perspective than Western fans thr...

Re: Original Shikinami scene and the 9th Angel contamination scene
Yeah, that's about the best angle that we currently have on this, I feel. Asuka in the flashback makes an offhand mention to parents if memory serves me; not a concept that any of the Shikis would have a particularily strong connection to, so that suggests that this was said by OriAsu, and that the ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Witch S1 was absolutely joyful; I think S2 struggled a bit with itself. It felt to me like there was half an episode missing for every one that actually aired; a lot of obvious setups went unaddressed, many chekov's guns that never fired, while most of the secondary plots ended up kinda going nowher...

Re: Use of Religious Imagery in Rebuilds
Correct me if I am wrong (my memory isnt the best), but I remember reading an interview about the use of christian symbolism in NGE and the reply by Anno being that it was just for the cool factor and that if they knew it was going to be popular in the west they wouldnt use it as much. This reducti...

No, that was definitely handmodeled CGI. Especially back then, there's no GAN capable of making that level or organic detail actually look good

Re: Write from beginning to end or write easiest/favorite scenes and then fill in the blanks?
I'm not sure how actually useful that is for advice to an aspiring writer; it's generally hitting all the things listed as good practice, but is also very formulaic and a rather substantial amount of not particularily creative work, so I'd generally advise against following this methodology too clos...

I've thrown the thread Nuke's way, so we can get an actual, authoritative answer on this instead of secondhand accounts and trying to divine meaning from machine translations
