Re: Dat Banner, Tho
However, if you like the idea of the randomiser and fancy continuing to use it, I should inform/remind you that this option is available (as it has been all along, in fact) by choosing the appropriate board style (aka theme) in your user control panel. Cool. Always more to this site than you realise.

Re: Forum Beginner - some questions
Unfortunately these are the $50,000 questions. Fuyutsuki sensei tells us: "The Seed of Life...and the Seed of Wisdom [have been both acquired by Eva Unit 01.] It is [now] equal to God. Will it be an ark to save humanity from the nihil of the Third Impact...or become a demon to annihilate humani...

Hey, yeah. They really don't do a lot of sci-fi given they make every movie about 'planes and/or The Bomb' anyway.

Re: Debate the quality of Rebuild here. [2]
it's basically reporting based upon one's feelings, and not based in any credible reality? It actually means 'self-insertion into the reportage'. The famous Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is understood as a hallucinatory account of his real investigation into the murder of a Mexican activist by the...

Re: Scene from ep 22 of director's cute. Thoughts please.
You can also compare it to a little remarked Toji hallucination scene in episode 19 As for episode 5, the difference is context. I do think there's a strong sense of wounded jealousy in the way Shinji mecha-spies on Gendo and Rei in epsiode 5. Not shock but envy. It comes immediately after the Phys ...

"Klee painting named Angelus Novus shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away from something he is fixedly contemplating. His eyes are staring, his mouth is open, his wings are spread. This is how one pictures the angel of history. His face is turned toward the past. Where we per...

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions
"My Neighbor Totoro" was so boring I couldn't even finish it in one sit, I had to pick it up after a break. I didn't feel anything and I think it's the worst Ghibli movie I've seen so far ("The Wind Rises" is my favorite). I think you have to genuinely feel at list a twinge of f...

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions
^ That's probably not so much a controversial opinion as far as aesthetic is concerned, but it would be when it comes to workflow and budget. Film looks great, but is a total bitch to work with, especially now that very few animation facilities in Japan have access to the film equipment needed to p...

Re: Was Seele Trying to Redo Genesis in 3.0?
Maybe I'm completely off base with this but there could be something here too. It seems like Seele might be trying to redo the whole thing to get rid of humanity's "sin" and trade up the FoK for the FoL, which they seem to view as superior for some reason. Well if you want the WORD on tha...

Re: Circumstances of Kaworu's creation [split]
The idea for Kaworu evolved. Evolve is the right word. Kaworu was originally conceived as an angel, named Tabris, number 17, that just happened to be humanoid. To this idea housing Adam's soul was later added. Like, in the draft versions he has golden hair before he was Rei-ificated. But this has b...

*Spoiler Alert* Good work. The evageeks wiki looks like it hasn't been touched in a while. http://wiki.evageeks.org/Sadamoto%27s_Manga I'll just add in my own emphases though When Shinji goes to Rei II’s room to deliver her NERV card, Shinji does not fall on top of Rei and leaves the room before Re...

It was said before the shattering effect, still within the theater, which the characters directly state is instrumentality. Dangnabitation. I will have to reatreat into Mystical Christian Existentialism. "It will be alright. All lifeforms have the power to restore themselves and the wish to li...

Re: Circumstances of Kaworu's creation [split]
I think it's more reasonable to believe that Kaworu does have his own soul. The fact that Kaworu refers to Rei being 'in the same form as the lilim' - as well as the way he's drawn with pale skin and red irises - cause people to expect an overly symmetrical relationship between them. Rei seems to be...

Re: Waking Up from Instrumentality
I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking this. People who say EoE is "uplifting" or "a good ending" are either off their rockers, clinically retarded, or both. It's because it starts with the Shinji-viewer complex who 'runs away' from normal reality, struggles through a rollercoaster ...

Re: Did Asuka and Misato really hate Shinji in 3.0?
I don't think the blame we hear from his fellow crew members really blame Shinji sincerely. I think it is merely that he played a key role in the devastation of the world. He did not plan it, know of it or desire it but his finger was on the trigger. Shinji in turn can't apologize for it because he ...
