Re: Star Wars

New TV Spot with some new footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUmcneReow8 It looks okay, though part of me is worried that it'll suffer somewhat in the same way Force Awakens did. Namely, playing it a bit too safe and risk averse. I wonder if we'll ever find out how gritty and dark the origina...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them . It was overwhelmingly average. Between the bloated runtime, overreliance on special effects, overabundance of plotlines that served only to make the whole thing even more confusing, the token "because DIVERSITY!" black woman magic presiden...

Re: HBO's Westworld

What strikes me as odd is that these theme park is basically a murder rape simulator and people take kids to it. They make it sound like you have to go looking for the adult stuff at the far end of the park, but right when you get there if you walk into the saloon a robot hooker comes up and grabs ...

Re: [Film] Prometheus

Yassss. Saw the poster and release date on Facebook an hour ago. As a huge Aliens fan, who hates Prometheus with a fiery passion, I am keeping my fingers crossed. It was a good poster, but ultimately I'm worried because the film seems to be trying to run the Engineer plot from Prometheus and th...

Re: Comic Books!

^Odd that they're cutting the number of Omega Level mutants down to 12. A few years ago it felt like there were much more than that running around, including most of the powerful psychic mutants, arc-relevant characters and a lot of the most powerful supervillains like Apocalypse and such. Generatio...

If anyone can still bring themselves to care about the X-Men, new team line ups & creative teams have been announced. http://www.cbr.com/marvel-reveals-x-men-blue-gold-teams-creators-shipping-info/ I find it weird that they're returning to the a 'two teams' dynamic from the 90s. I really miss X...

Re: Hollywood's "Ghost in the Shell"

Regarding the 'morph suit', rewatching the original film it is clear at some points that Motoko isn't actually nude when going invisible- she is actually wearing some sort of thermoptic skintight suit (albeit a flesh-coloured one that's so tight that her nipples are visible beneath it). There's clea...

Re: Hollywood's "Ghost in the Shell"

^I think he does make a valid argument on how they may have drifted too far towards The Matrix/Blade Runner dystopia rather than the more mundane setting of the film and anime series. The glimpses we get of the city in the trailer certainly reminded me much more of Blade Runner than the original fil...

Re: Currently playing 4: Guns of the Patriots

Killing Floor 2 is finally out of early access! This is probably one of my favourite new releases, although if you're not looking to slaughter waves of zombies in a variety of ways and/or have a fear of blood and viscera there's not much more to be found. It feels like both a bit less and a lot more...

: I think the creators know it's a genre that's been done to death as of late, and it seems they're doing their best to keep it fresh. To me it's more Bokurano than Madoka , and I loved Bokurano . Twists all over the goddamn place. I feel like it really starts to get going with the fourth episo...

The remade shelling sequence uses a redone version of the song from the original, done by Kawai himself.

Re: Hollywood's "Ghost in the Shell"

Some dude getting beat up in the water by a cloaked Major may have been in the first movie, but is that really a scenario exclusive to the plot of that first movie? There's context for situation in the original, but for this clip we aren't burdened with any of that; it's literally just a dude getti...

Read this over the summer. I thought it was great, it's been a while since I've found a recent comic series that has an original premise, has compelling writing and beautiful artwork. Hopefully the brilliance of the first arc will carry on throughout.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Saga Thread

Having a lot of fun with the SE now, although after using SkyUI for so long the generic interface is really, really annoying to use. I did realise that now that I'm going to be using SE to play Skyrim for the forseeable future, I can also sacrifice my vanilla game for the Enderal total conversion mo...

Re: The Elder Scrolls Saga Thread

I just generally go to the Nexus Mods hub for most of my mods. Of the cosmetic/aesthetic mods I've bundled together this time, I'd reccomend: SSE Texture Pack-Osmodius : Upgrades many in-game textures to 2k with minimal performance issues (you might gain, like, a frame but if your system is decent y...

Re: The Elder Scrolls Saga Thread

After fiddling with my settings and a lot of modding, I've managed to get the game to run as well as vanilla Skyrim while also looking a fair bit prettier. I wouldn't necessarily call it a great upgrade, but it was definitely what I needed to get back into the game. I will say that the SE has given ...

Re: The Elder Scrolls Saga Thread

I currently have SSE but I'm just sitting on it at the moment until we at least get SkyUI for it, and maybe only after Bethesda delivers a fix for the sound issue. My main issues with SSE are that it can somehow look worse than my heavily-modded version of the original with the High Res Texture Pack...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Re-Zero . The ending was a bit of a letdown, and as others have said there was no rhyme or reason to the selection of best girl. But the MC was somehow very appealing, and the show was great fun to watch, with good cliffhangers and the like. Pretty good, I'd say, though not actually great. The 'rhy...
