Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

Took a break from Scifi while I waited for the Sci Fi from the book depo I ordered to come in. Read Young Men in Spats by the immortal P.G. Wodehouse, and by god I was blown away. This book is fantastic, consisting of short stories told about young incompetents not unlike everyone's favourite B. Woo...

Re: Star Trek

Star Trek beyond was slow at the start, but was nicely paced for the rest. There was one scene that made me yell 'yooooooo' in the cinema, those of you who've watched it probably know which one. I've liked all of these Star Trek movies quite a lot so far, and this is no exception. Beastie Boys/10. C...

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

I am burning out suuuuper hard on this book(Time by Stephen Baxter). For some reason it just doesn't seem as good as its sequel, the themes just come off as less relevant to me where I stand at the moment, and the story and concept have thus far been far less exciting than the time and space hopping...

Re: FML general thread [8]

I'm hitting up against a wall in terms of motivation and career direction. While I would like to go on to composition, and I believe I'm good at it, and have the ability to succeed, nonetheless I'm aware that the chances of any real money coming of it is minuscule. I'd prefer to continue with the de...

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

A average for my first semester. A- for the composition paper.

I was expecting lower for composition, my first four assignments were straight Bs and really bummed me out all semester, but the Semester work looks to have come out as 4 A+s which is pretty damn dandy.

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

Finished the Penultimate Truth and Inverted world at work over my breaks. From the get go, the penultimate truth seemed not to gel with what I had come to expect from literature; the language was odd throughout, not archaic but just off somehow. Character interactions were stilted, which I did appre...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2015 to now

One sentence summaries My Hero Acadamia-Slow in the middle but has ramped up, shame it's almost the end of the season. Diamond isn't Crash (JoJo)-Quite slow as well, not finding it as enjoyable as part 3. Kotetsujo no Kabaneri-Attack on titans but with trains and better in any way, especially the ar...

Re: Official Welcome Thread

Welcome back, Sgt. Griff! Huehue thanks bruv. As to my unannounced absence; I've just been exploring a lot of new shows, books, and music lately, the staple of Evangelion was always there but somewhat faintly in the background. Recently I've found myself drawn back into it for the same reasons I lo...

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

I've been chewing on Science Fiction mostly lately. I started off with the Sci Fi Masterworks edition of The Forever war, which I enjoyed immensely, even if the effect of its origin in the 70s is somewhat profound on the more touchy issues of sexuality touched on towards the end. It was absolutely f...

All my academic documentation for 2014 has been lost ;_; This is awful. On the bright side I still have time to get copies before applications close for uni, but still, alongside being rejected for a job that I really wanted because they only offer two year contracts and I intend to study overseas f...

Fark if this thread is revived I might as well say upon further viewing of the movies the CG's become less jarring to me and I like it a lot more.

I've completely lost all passion for the guitar :sniffle: I used to play nonstop, doing new things, finding out techniques and writing (I thought) interesting stuff, now it's just a chore to pick it up and be so comparatively restricted in my skill and my musicality than I am on the ...

Having knocked off a satisfying amount of Sharpe I've moved onto another British author by the name of PG Wodehouse. I read a few of his books quite a while ago and remember absolutely adoring them, but unfortunately I don't feel the same anymore. Just finished Right Ho, Jeeves, and it just ...

I've finally learned it after a month. That cadenza has been the bane of my existence for far too long, feels good to finally have it under my fingers.
