I'm pretty certain it was Reichu, as then resident artist.

Re: Eva fan translation(with online translation)

There are transcripts; once hosted on a companion site, now long defunct. I don't know if this was the final version, but it should be close enough; and I've not looked at Reichu's Arqa Apocrypha site to see if they are hosted there.

Re: Eva fan translation(with online translation)

Just to point out to those who might not be aware of it - there's the venerable Literal Translation Project rendering of the script; and that the ADV Platinum release subs were a great improvement on their first go-around, and should be considered a third set.

Re: Transferring massive amounts of data between Magi

The 2015 of NGE is not our 2015 (they don't even have iPhones). Some of the in-world explanation can be pointed at the economic effects of Second Impact, of course, but for the MAGI, those are clearly some Project E weird tech spin off - the brain-like structure we see when Ritsuko goes delving into...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

TWR was supposedly Miyazaki's final farewell tour movie, even if he changed his mind after; so it was self-indulgence with aeroplanes and should simply be taken as that. That it was also Anno's debut as voice actor was part of that self-indulgence, too.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Looking back in the earlier reaches of the thread, I characterised MJP as a decent enough not!Gundam - but was watching it in the context of DarliFra not long being over, and thus serving as comparison (including comparing the "transfer student" pilot with the Nines). Finding it was a part...

Necroing this thread for something related https://twitter.com/anno_moyoco/status/1716378995510726757 A while ago, a large number of goods with the director's photo printed on them, such as eco bags and men's boxer shorts, were discovered on Amazon. When I first saw it, I thought it was a playful co...

"Return to the womb" - which, let's face it, the entry plug full of warm sustaining fluid really symbolises - only really works with mothers.

Somewhat belatedly, news reaches me of the death of David McCallum at age 90. I show my age and detachment from media in thinking of him as Ilya Kuryakin first and foremost.

Re: I believe Mari is another (guardian) angel figure in Eva

Mari is not the classic Sue in the sense of the original Star Trek fanfic where a low rank character does everything right and gets deferred to by her superiors; but, lacking ties to the original, she does appear to be used as an agent of the author, having secret knowledge that enables her to be pr...

:resurrect: Over a year and no posts? I guess everyone uses dedicated social media for their pictures these days. Anyhow, last autumn I took a Japanese Language and Culture evening class, which was interesting, not just for the time when I and another "volunteer" got dressed up in kimono b...

Re: Write from beginning to end or write easiest/favorite scenes and then fill in the blanks?

While never actually written down, I start with an outline of events first; then with that in mind, start at the beginning and actually set words down. Some scenes only expand when I get to that point - for example in my Telzey Matuček/EoE crossover fic *, I didn't have the details of Asuka vs the E...

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!

Where did the last six or so months go to? Life has been keeping me busy, mostly boring mundane tasks, slowly clearing the way so that I can obey my late wife's injunction to go on and have a riotous old age when I no longer had to look after her. And while the summer was disappointing weather-wise,...

With a test set that includes a prompt for Asuka, and six months more prompt experience in tweaking with styles, I made, in passing, one that caught my fancy for an avatar update - https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/d9/f9/9f/MEP7ATH_t.png (detail) BREAK art deco propaganda poster for (Asuka la...

Presented without endorsement : I haven't been able to track down any of the posts where I quoted an interesting interpretation I found long ago on a defunct Spanish language forum, that Shinji and Asuka were parallel to Adam and Lilith (as per the original myth, not the NGE versions of the names), ...

We see when GNR is collapsing that the Earth looks pretty much as before https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/4f/05/5a/MELF29E_t.jpg the main problem is that mother of all tsunami we can see from where bits are splashing down on the Pacific. Re: Last Movie You Watched

As a break from all the nonsense real life has been throwing at me these last few weeks, I took the opportunity to catch Suzume when it was playing at the local arthouse cinema. For the first film in-theatre in almost a decade, and first Shinkai since I noped out of 5cm/s at a frozen railway platfor...
