Right, but it was consistent about its continuity. Trek wasn't. Year of Hell is a fantastic example; we're led to believe the ship went through hell for a year, and the very next episode it's brand spanking new. This was routine in all of the series (even DS9), and it wasn't...

The only really bad trek is Voyager, which is amazingly terrible Like TNG, Voyager had a rough first couple of seasons but got its shit together circa season 3 and kept going strong until the end. "Equinox" and "Year of Hell" were the most outstanding two-parters in franchise hi...

Yeah, most of TOS/TAS and the first season or two of Next Gen were kind of shit, but TNG got better as Berman took over from Roddenberry, and DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise were mostly pretty good.

You must have all seen a different BTAS than I did. Are you talking about the one from the early '90s? 'Cuz I have that on DVD and it's not remotely "adult", just faux-noir.

... What ? :cringe: So this movie has nothing to do with 1984, isn't named after it and doesn't even share names with Orwell's book ? Why the hell was it called 1984 in the first place, does this make no sense or am I losing my mind ? It's called "Equals", because... uh......

Oh, so you mean that a project like this would succumb to the exact same problem as traditionally copyrighted work?

Robocop doesn't suck

I saw the new Robocop on opening night and I'm happy to say that it doesn't suck. It lacks the dark comedy of the first movie, but most other elements have been retained or replaced with equivalent elements that leave the remake feeling true to the spirit of the original while still allowing...

Here's the good news: It doesn't actually have "1984" or any references to 1984 in the title, and the plot has nothing to do with the plot of 1984 either. If we're very lucky, the main characters won't even be named Winston and Julia, and we'll be able to safely say tha...

I'm pretty sure that copyleft requires that proper attribution be given. It's not like people are making their own Linux distros and claiming "this isn't Linux, it's something new that I wrote myself and any similarities to Linux are purely coincidental".

I am taking command of the fleet. We have 5 votes to subdue Kozoman and 2 for horse noises. Kozoman raises his crowbar above his head, shouts "For great justice!", and charges Misato. She begins reaching for her sidearm, but you calmly stick your foot out in front of him, causing him to tr...

No, the third season had some pretty good episodes, or at least explored some serious concepts.

Alright, I've come to a decision. I like this idea and I want to be part of it, but only if: a) we're rolling with a G1/Beast Era-derived mythos, not a Bayverse-derived one. b) Second Impact was the result of humanity finding Skyfire buried in the ice and fucking with him, instead of...

This is why writing teams filter back to one or two people, because in television production, a writing team is effectively just a brainstorming session, and then one or two people are ultimately responsible for distilling those ideas into a singular script. Uh, that sounds an awful lot like what I...
