Re: Shin Eva - New Trailer (12-24-20)
Cool trailer, I think I understood absolutely nothing I saw, but neat nonetheless. I'm still hoping for more focus on Rei and less on Mari and the rest of the new characters, but we'll see how it goes. Not much to say about the 2D animation, it looks good, but they didn't show much of it. I'm assumi...

Re: Daicon III Animation Discovered on 8mm Film!
For all we know Anno or any of the people that worked in it could have some copy of Daicon IV film in their attics. But like you said, they can't really do anything with it.

Re: Daicon III Animation Discovered on 8mm Film!
Cool, now could someone find a way to get the Daicon IV opening on quality that doesn't make my eyes bleed?
Not like I'm dissing the III, but there's a reason people prefer the sequel.

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
Watched Gundam Char's counterattack for the second time. In general, my impression of the movie hasn't changed much, but it certainly feels less rushed now that I know the characters and what's coming. I actually felt something in most of the dramatic moments this time! It still feels jarring to go ...

Re: Christmas a pagan holiday?
Well, some Christians may not be accepting of that because of its roots. Especially some of the puritanical ones. Believing that the Bible is the answer to everything. And they’re certain that they’re right about these things. But why should it bother you? If they ignore the origins of the rituals ...

Re: Christmas a pagan holiday?
Even ignoring stuff like Christmas, nearly all art and architecture used by christians was almost directly lifted from the good old pagan romans. I've always found it hilarious that people praise Jesus and company in almost exactly the same temples used for all the roman gods. Not at all surprising,...

Well, there's more Rei now, so it's good
In all seriousness, I like it, it's kind of goofy, but I don't mind.

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
Well, Anno has gone on record to state that victory is his favorite Gundam show; take that for whatever it is worth That's actually quite surprising. Out of all Tomino Gundams I've seen, Victory(along with ZZ) are the ones I actually don't find surprising at all that people dislike, there is a lot ...

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
I'm honestly baffled at how much hate Tomino is getting here, as if the anti war theme of all the Gundams he made is in any way difficult to understand. You know, the most important part of the shows? We're talking about the director that sometimes has the main characters literally scream the message...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Tomino's directing isn't that erratic tough. It's different from the norm, for sure, but I never found myself lost because of it. And he is a god at directing action.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Congratulations Shamsiel, you survived the dreaded Africa arc, the worst part of Nadia by an enormous margin. You can now do like most fans of the anime and just straight up pretend they don't exist.

Re: How do you feel about grown ups watching anime?
Justacrazyguy : Fanservice can be pointless for the audience if it doesn't add anything and is meaningless in the larger scale of things. Hypothetical question: would you consider NGE having a beach episode that adds nothing to the story and only exists for nice fluff and sexualized shots of women,...

Re: How do you feel about grown ups watching anime?
Fanservice can't be pointless if the audience or creator likes it. It didn't just go into anime by mistake. It's there because it's supposed to and I can point to plenty of anime where fanservice improves the experience for me. I don't even need to go very far. If Evangelion wasn't about attractive ...

Re: FML general thread [8]
I don't live in Vienna any longer, and sadly we are used to this kind of thing in Europe by now... I mean, it still only happens in big cities and the like. Very tiny consolation, but they are still unusual occurrences. Shouldn't happen at all but what can you do. Hope the police sorts it out in th...

Re: How do you feel about grown ups watching anime?
The MCU, DCEU, Fast and the Furious and Harry Potter , for example, are extremely popular franchises. On the meanwhile, Scorsese, Kaufman and Carruth are hurting for money. I don't think there are many people who only watch cheap, simple entertainment, either, but the amount who doesn't watch and/o...

Re: How do you feel about grown ups watching anime?
I just don't see these anime as that dangerous and I'm once again going to say that I seriously doubt there are many people that watch only simple, cheap entertainment. I's also like to point out that anime( or whatever media you choose) being simple and generally below "works of art"(what...

Re: How do you feel about grown ups watching anime?
I wouldn't put it quite as harshly as Zusuchan, but I agree. The problem isn't adults watching anime, the problem are people projecting their fucked up fantasies on anime, and the shows catering to those people. I'm quoting Blockio but take this as a reply to Zusuchan as well. But people project no...
