Picked up Demon's Souls again yesterday after getting stuck at World 2-2. Like with most games that have a learning curve (as in, almost none I've played that were released in the past multiple years) it all just 'clicked' yesterday and, well, I played most of yesterday and t...

Back on ME3, extended cut spoilers below I just found out that the Refusal ending, you know the one that leads you to believe Liara's beacon worked and the next cycle managed to defeat the Reapers legit, means that a future cycle just used one of the Crucibles choices to defeat the Reapers. So,...

Mount and Blade's difficulty curve is both insane and unforgiving. Should you be captured after the early game, continuing is painful , because you lose all your upgraded troops and your horse, thus becoming a sitting duck again. This is the reason I haven't ended up putting hundreds of hou...

Who needs interesting questions to do with themes of a story when you can have marketable taglines that force the entire plot to serve marketability over internal plausibility, eh? We live in grand times for video games.

What can change the nature of a man? "If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can. I’ve seen belief move cities...

Day of Sex (ahem, Deus Ex ) among many, many others. This game is relentlessly awesome. I just talked to the Red Arrow Triad head in the back of a club, and at the end, MJ12 mechs shot the place up. I don't remember that from previous playthroughs, and dialogue indicates that it was a c...

But using something iconic of Gendo would just be confusing. It'd fit what the images were doing better but would just be kinda silly in practice.

CJD, there is a difference between sales and popularity. . . .Say, what do you hear more spoken about these days in terms of games? Legit question Do you mean aspects of games or just CoD, BF and Skyrim? If it's the latter I'd personally say Skyrim is the one that still gets talked about an...

I wouldn't go that far. Perhaps it's true in EA's case (I don't really know, since I don't really bother with their games), but I don't think that's necessarily a good assumption to make 100% of the time. TF2's microeconomy was more than keeping the game aflo...

To be fair, it looks like they're trying to go to the free-to-play model where the in-game microeconomy the main source of revenue. It's been pretty successful in the games where Valve has tried it, so I wouldn't be surprised to see EA trying it to keep their revenue streaming in. That&...

Bethesda has the rights to Stalker AND Fallout? Uh... okay... they must have picked it up for a song... You're kidding, right? So we're going to have to play Stalker on that awful Creation engine now? Glorious. BREAKING NEWS http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/7/31/3207160/star-wars-the-old...

Re: Ah, the tiers. B)

It would still help to know where it falls; metaphor, Instrumentality, mood-setting or random surrealistic bullshit When it comes down to it, I don't think there's much difference between those. They're all just ways to convey something within the story. Find out what it's trying to...

The scene is DEFINITELY not canon. At that point Asuka was staring blankly at a Hospital ceiling from what I can remember. She certainly wasn't going to pleasantly greet Shinji and Rei at that point. It's all a big ol' metaphor or symbol or something. Which makes me wonder what the deal ...

I started to reread Cloud Atlas after I saw the trailer for the upcoming adaptation. (The trailer seemed good, but a little more soppy than I remembered the book being.) I just started reading that. Thanks for giving me a heads up about the trailer being released. Now I know to avoid it unt...

I feel like throwing my two cents in. Treating Rebuild as entertainment is all fine and dandy, but the way in which Anno seems to be talking about it in this interview makes it sound like he intends it to be just entertainment, which is a very different ball game to being entertainment in general, p...

Well that was certainly eye-opening as to what Anno wants to do with Rebuild. I'm more interested than ever to see what he's going to pull, especially since he said he's independently financed it specifically so it doesn't have to be a financial success. It makes me think that whatev...

Yeah, I did. I also loved the way he grows more insane by the minute(he becomes more agressive and curses more). Of course, he wasn´t the only good character. The way is sniper died was...powerful. I was yelling at the screen when he died. Another thing I loved was the radioman. "Where...

Already did, it is, without doubt, one of the best shooters of this generation. Also, what ending did you prefer? I think the "He survives and is saved" is supposed to be the best ending. But, he refuses the fact that it is all is fault, which makes me think if suicide wasn´t the best opt...
