Someone posted a handful of screenshots of the Archives DVD set. One thing I can say for sure is that there's far less chroma noise at line edges as compared to the Second Impact Box #2 DVD Volume 6 (the only other DVD using the original broadcast masters). DVDISOs of the Archives set ha...

Amazon just sent me this: お届け予定日: 2015-09-14 - 2015-09-15 So if you've placed your order around august-13, you should probably be expecting a similar wait. Ugh. It can only be worse for my August 22nd order, but no date from Amazon Japan yet for me. Is it too much to hope that it will even get ...

It's not necessarily the image, but rather the general design of it all. Also the fact that it's in English. You'd expect something a little louder with a whole lot of Kanji and whatnot. Hardly anywhere is the anime as tranquil as that menu. I mean they were advertising the whole ...

Speaking about the movies, both Death and Rebirth and EOE are going about $125 and $180 respectively at Amazon. With that money, one might as well buy the Japanese Blu Ray set. Who'd spend that amount cash on DVDs based on VHS/LD masters and that isn't anamorphically enhanced? They're b...

I'm of the opinion that the jump from the original DVDs to Renewal was a bigger deal for the movies than the Renewal to BD transition, if only for how terrible the original Theatrical Edition DVDs from 1999 were. Composite "dot crawl" was everywhere, and 4:3 letterbox is no way to see ...

Dang, the one screenshot with the topographic map (presumably of Tokyo-3) is quite impressive in terms of its line resolution!

Has anyone who has ordered from Amazon.co.jp recieved a shipping notification yet? I still have yet to receive any info and the only reason this makes me a tad bit nervous is if there is some problem with my bank and ordering from overseas companies. It may well depend on what date you ordered it. ...

svenge: I took those screenshots from 2ch. The poster later added the same shot from "Revival", so I've edited the above post accordingly. It's exactly the same though. Ah, I see. Thanks for the update. On a separate note, I decided to make a comparison between the Blu-ray, 2003 R...

I would actually imagine the new DVDs sets to be superior to the original jewel case releases of the late 90s just because the later were released when DVD was still in its infancy (and when laser discs were dominant home video format in Japan, I believe). Anybody know if the Death and Rebi...

Maybe it's just me, but to me the Renewal shot of Asuka is the best of the bunch; it seems more natural to me, while her skin seems a bit too bright in the blu-ray versions (though it's better in the current release than the Rebirth BD). I think Blue Three forgot to post a correspon...

Surely that's not an equivalent comparison, though; as I understand it the new DVD Archives box is meant to be directly from the original broadcast material without the later changes. Exactly. You shouldn't compare the Archives box to the Renewal DVDs, let alone the Blu-ray box. To me the o...

As I understand it, the DVD archives are meant to be how the series aired on T.V. (So, do the DVDs have 15 second Previews while the BDs have the 30 second ones. Based on the menu shot I got off of a Twitter feed , I would presume that BDs also have the 15sec previews integrated as part of the ...

Are the Rebuild BD's still in print? Have they ever been out of print for a long period of time? All the Japanese home video releases of Rebuild are in print, except for the 2-DVD Limited Edition of Eva 1.01 from back in 2008. That said, the first-pressing bonuses for each release (e.g. fil...

If choose to get the set later when I have the money will it be completely sold out and no longer restock? Actually, that's quite possible. Back in June 2003 when the "Renewal" set came out, it was sold out relatively soon afterwards. However there were also single-volume releases ...

I always thought of it as more of a dirk, if one overlooks the obvious differences in handles.

I'm seeing them as 360p. You're right, sorry about that. When I downloaded them (using keepvid.com) I only truly paid attention to the 640 pixel width and then my brain just auto-piloted from there. Spent way too much time with 640x480 videos back in the day, forgot that these trail...
