Asuka's Sun metaphor is also relevant because she thinks everything revolves around her, and she shines so brightly and boldly in the series that she's pretty much the most attention-grabbing character, outshining most others in the eyes of the fandom, save for the Moon, which shall always ...

I think the emphasis that the other topic lacked is on Lilith as the mother to all life we know. That's the barebones explanation. Stretching it, you can see our interpreting the ocean or moon as motherly because life certainly originated in the ocean, and the moon brought Lilith to earth in a c...

Rei's moon/ocean symbology

I've come to think that part of why Rei is on occasion given a moon/ocean correlation, other than Lilith originating with the moon or whatever celestial body caused the first impact, involves the moon and the ocean as two of the most primitive, ancient anthropological maternal symbols. It ties i...

I never noticed Rei's hand going into his chest like that. If I had to say anything about these two shots, it would be that in the process of instrumentality, Shinji experiences the same emotions of embarrassment and discomfort as he did from episode 5. IE, way to close, personal space, etc. I ...

Genwaku no Umi Kara (from the dazzling ocean)

I am an eva music nerd. Refrain was an album of music "inspired by" Eva, mostly songs sung by Yoko Takahashi to my knowledge. I find it interesting how the song's obviously about childbirth, but is also about the latter half of EoE. http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/eva/genwaku.htm I wa...

I don't necessarily think every such event is Anno trying to tell something factually. I think much is done throughout the series by comparison/contrast. There's not really much more I can say about it, though--they're completely naked and unbound by any barriers, physical or social, bot...

Well, Rebuild certainly bashes you over the head with the "this is a continuation" idea, even if it's done so deceptively (we don't really know yet).

The point would be to emphasize their openness since they're almost the same being.

Sea of LCL in EoE = episode 5 reference?

might have been mentioned before--I searched, but it's kind of hard to search for. You think the scene where Rei's sitting on Shinji in the sea of LCL, with her hand going through his chest, is meant to be a symbolic contrast to the hand-on-boob scene in episode 5? they don't bash you ov...

I guess I'd need to grasp what level of detail should be used for the wiki. I just wanted to mention in the EoE section how the transformer falling into the water at the very beginning intentionally resembles the splash of Kaworu's head falling into the LCL, showing more or less exactly what...

Can only certain people edit the wiki? I'd understand why, but I'd like to contribute something. :T
