I like to think that you can watch episodes 1-24, then watch The End of Eva up until the point where Shinji begins to dream. Then you can switch over to the TV series. I still hold fast to the belief that the endings are different, but they do intertwine in some aspects.

Well, I broke out my manga, both volume 5 & 8 where that scene is depicted, and the Eva Unit that Yui is in is very characteristicly like Eva Unit 01. It looks just the way Eva Unit 1 ordinarily looks minus the armor.

Doujinshi are fan produced manga. Quite a lot of them get made over in Japan by fans, where they take the characters and create their own stories. Its similar to fan fiction over here, only told in manga format.
