I watched Adieu, Galaxy Express 999 last night. Don't know if I should have watched any of the series or anything like that beforehand, but I didn't. (Stupid Crunchyroll keeps freezing after the first advert) Not the series (though it's pretty great in that crappy 70s way if...

Oh by the way, are these the actual track names or did some encoder fuck up? what a mess

I just remembered what Q's soundtrack most reminded me of, and it's the soundtrack to Emperor: Battle for Dune, especially Arkenstone's tracks. Good times. Too bad the game is still a bit crap.

I loved the animation and also liked the art direction but for one reason or another it left somewhat haphazard impression on me. It certainly wasn't bad and its creativity alone marked it above the average already but I remember finding the whole thing geled together somehow poorly while story...

I remember seeing the old Kyousiga OVA back in the day. I thought it was odd but it didn't really grab my interest. I don't know what it's relationship is to television series. I was pretty surprised that you didn't much like the original ONA to be honest, it was absolutely the best...

Finished my Utena rewatch. Liked it a lot more this time, the ending hit me much harder. The BD rips I downloaded looked flawless, I just wish I could turn off the song subtitles without turning off the main subs too. Since I scoured the internet for interpretation of Eva after I went through it a ...

The overt nationalist blathering of the original is conveniently mislaid, sure, but at the risk of stating the obvious, they ARE a bunch of Japanese (even the Martian is Japanese!!) flying around a giant penis called The Japanese Nation, design of which is based on the pride & joy of Imp...

I meant more the composition/framing of that shot. I might be misinterpreting but i wasn't referring to the similarity in the captain persona with "lolQ". I'm sure this same shot is in USY remake at least (if not original), all that fucking guy does is retreat into the spa...

^^^This is an emotional album for me. It speaks to me and my life experiences. My parents were both killed by zombies that broke into my home when I was 7. It's something that still haunts me today; how my parents were taken from me, how I barely escaped... all the blood, all the horror. All the...

11/10, AOTYAY, etc. Now taking bets as to how many episodes we have to wait before unwitting gay (incest?) sex between Satsuki and Ryuko.

Watching Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of sinners. There are about 8 movies and I just finished the second one. It's a little slow but it's interesting. The story is a little complex so I'll give a full breakdown once I'm finish with them all. KnK rules, but the reasons why don't becom...

the quickening fetus is Shinji, who is repeatedly reborn again and again throughout the movie, getting less enthusiastic about it everytime until finally Mari and Asuka have to caesarean him back into the world.

That sounds all nice and flowery but if he is indeed responsible he is rightfully seen as Hitler reincarnated by the rest of the world and Shinji has hit beyond rock bottom here arguably worse than EoE. Rebuild can't tell us in a believable way that he is to blame for all that shit and yet reco...

His being locked away in the Eva doesn't indicate him 'running away:' if anything, it's implied that was beyond his control, and no one made an attempt to reverse it. This is the opposite of what is implied; Shinji is portrayed as the agent of pretty much everything that happens aft...

But the narrative of the movie led us to that conclusion. What Misato said or did not say is part of the entire framework of trying to show us Shinji growing as a character. Him throwing himself into a situation that was clearly painful, agonizing, and terrifying demonstrated his growth from 'r...

Well, that's the problem: we don't see his actions as reckless and selfish UNTIL 3.0. I remember watching the end of 2.0 thinking 'Freaking A, man! Save that girl! Beast mode that EVA!' Not to toot my own horn or anything but, well, maybe I'll just toot my own horn a bit and men...

Well, even NGE redefined it's relatively medicore-yet-bleak first 6 Episodes and the silly action-oriented Episodes 7 - 12 with an exceptionally well-done and very grim second half. Sans the CGI and the supporting cast taking on more obvious supporting roles, any argument one can make against N...

The whole of the new movie edition is most charitably viewed as an exercise in trying to bottle that lightning What a goofy opinion. Regardless of OP's opinions on the movie, the title he chose for this thread is pretty much synonymous with the actual title of Q. This in itself should be suffic...
