There meant to be an actual hacked version of the early pokemon game called Pokemon Black where your Pokemon can die from what i've heard. Though I'm not sure if its for real. Seriously though, it's great that they've finally given us something official.

I think Shinji's experience while he was absorbed in Unit 01 gives the best example of what the normal conditions are for a soul in an Eva.
