This is because there is no english language custom equivalent of "getting on with it" with a upbeat "cute or cheeky" style of speech.. english language can not be used that way with out sounding perverted to a native english speaker. On that observation, I also draw your attent...

Seeing as how Mari speaks (AFAIK) perfect Japanese, I don't think it will be an issue. I was thinking more like Mari speaking in English so that other Japanese characters wouldn't know what she was saying during phone conversations? I wouldn't know how much of what Mari said whe...

My cousin is a little Asuka, red hair and everything. And she will kick your balls if you let her. I met a dancer while shooting a TV pilot who was exactly like Asuka, even down to the red-hair and attitude. She was about 10 or so when I met her, and won all sorts of dance competitions that day. Af...

People! Pedophilia is attraction to children who have not reached puberty . If you wake up covered in your goopy excretions surrounded by print-outs of Asuka from 4chan that doesn't make you a pedophile. Rest easy. Well there's the whole legal age thing, which varies from state to state I b...

So I'm assuming there's no love for "Cowboy Bebop"'s dub around these parts. That, and Baccano , is the only anime where I can listen to either dubed or subbed. And eve then there's no beating Ed's Japanese voice in Bebop. And I'm kind of a fan of Megumi Hayashibar...

I've said this before, bit I just watch the original Japanese dubs and don't bother with the English cast. That way any complaint or complement I have is directed toward the creative team, and not how ever many hands touched it on its way to the States. But, yeah. Kaji's Engrish was funn...

That was on TV today. I walked in the middle of it, but I enjoyed it enough to count it in our most watched films thread. ^_^

Precisely, and you can't tell which is which simply by reading a description likely written by somebody that had nothing to do with making the actual film. Well, there are other things that might give it away other than the description. But I generally do agree that one should watch a movie bef...

I'm sure that most people would have reservations about something that was being described as "edgy". Over the years I've picked up the equivalent red-flag words in context in the writing style used by the local Arts Picturehouse and the associated Festival (bleak, uncompromis...

I think that was HAL.

So, I'm either Kaji or Kensuke. That's... different.

You speak the truth. Guys like Patrick Stewart should do more dubs. I would add Sam Jackson and Ron Perlman to that list. But, yes. I've no idea why the actors they hire get hired. Maybe they're cheaper and Funi can't afford to dish out animes at the pace they have been going and have a...

Well, congrats to Yuko! I'm pretty sure voice-acting would be that much of a strain on her pregnancy, but then, I wouldn't know. I've never been pregnant before. (Plan on keeping it that way too. ^_^ )

Hope is a healthy pregnancy!

Well, classical music isn't really a genre as much as it is an enormous umbrella term that seems to primarily denote a certain "classical" approach to composing music. In that sense, yes, I think John Williams et. al. are closest to classical composers than anything else, but I just d...

I haven't gotten too much into the models. So I have to ask, when did Shinji ever look so bad-ass?

@ arael: So, Shinji's dad runs a United Nations special agency that makes foam darts and footballs? Do they use that in their fight against the Angels?
