HOLY macaroni and CHEESE! Do people actually get credits for this stuff? Shouldn't students be studying subjects where the knowledge of a professor could really help you--like the state of contemporary Islam, or Chinese microeconomic models? Especially when every semester means thousands of dol...

Yeah, my school (Duke University) also offered a course in anime last year. As an added bonus, the professor was a small, older Japanese woman named Yoda... had I taken it, I'm sure I would have slipped up and called her Master Yoda at least once. 2004 Fall AALL 152-01 GENDER AND SEXUALI...

Re: As if you needed more motivation to come to Otakon...

If anyone's not already going, do they have a chance of scoring tickets now? It's pretty close, now. :already has tickets: Yeah, you can even buy a membership at the door, as I did last year. While they are capping attendance at 25,000, their website shows that they have 5,811 registration ...

As if you needed more motivation to come to Otakon...

I'm surprised no-one has posted this yet. It looks like Seiji Mizushima, director of episodes five through nine of Evangelion, is going to be a guest of honor at Otakon this year:

Monkey, any chance of an appearance at your panel?

You have any idea , how hard ( not mesion expensive ) to use real actors and other props in evangelion live action mvie would be. I say with 70% certainity it will be like Final fantasy: spirits within ( in terms of picture quality) Just like every Star Trek movie, X-Men, X-Men 2, F...

A really long clip show with half of EoE slapped on the end of it...Great. Well, I thought it served a pretty useful purpose, especially before the "Director's Cut" editions of the TV show contained all of the new footage from Death . It really helped to set the stage (quite liter...

Ok I'm just wondering something. The end of evangelion that I already own looks as good, if not better than the platinum editions. now what's the point in releasing a renewed version?? Making money. Well: 1) This isn't a renewed version. It's just a new box for the old disc. Jap...

The box set referenced in that thread is not region 1 and has already been released. This is the one that Monkey mentioned had been delayed and has a different design.

End of Evangelion re-release

It looks like Manga Entertainment's re-releasing Death and Rebirth/End of Evangelion at the end of July. Judging by the description on their website, this is just a repackaging of their old DVD masters...

NTSC/PAL doesn't even matter anymore. All my TV's play both just fine. I think this is because they are manufactured for worldwide distribution and instead of two models one is produced. About the only reason for region coding anymore is to restrict the market and have us all wait 12 months...

Sometimes I think there are people whos job it is to watch television 24 hours a day, and write complaints to broadcasters in a disturbingly successful attempt to censor society. Well, Cartoon Network in the US is especially vulnerable to this, as there are certain expectations many people still ha...

I hate ADV. First they take almost 12 months longer to release in the UK, and now they're just rubbing it in with a sale in region 1. Why, why did the DVD cartel implement region locking? Lets not forget that nasty NTSC / PAL nonsense. Well, when the NTSC/PAL standards were developed in the ear...

The title really says it all. I just started using an aggregator and they're incredibly useful. It would save me from having to check the mainpage as much, which uses up bandwidth. I understand that it's now possible to even syndicate phpBB threads as RSS feeds as well. In fact, I'd even...
