Re: Revolutionary Girl Utena

I put this on-hold. I know people love Utena to death, but I couldn't pass through it. Cheap homoerotic romance, cutesy absurd plot and magical girl parody isn't my thing. Maybe one day I'll complete it, but 39 episodes of this is like climbing the Everest with no arms (for me).

Re: Death Note

I agree that the ending of Death Note was pretty rushed, but I don't dislike it at all. Light was so full of himself and so confident that, when he realized he fuckd it up, he panics and became the psychopath pussy he always was. I also like Matsuda killing him, because he proved that not only is a ...

Yeah. Even though I have my problems with EoE, I have to admit that is totally true. I've never felt anything from the series left aside in EoE.

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Waiting for an Eva to go berserk is not reliable. By that logic, all they needed to do with Armisael was wait for Rei to be impaled and then self-destruct. Except that meant to sacrifice a human being, destroy an entire city and lose an EVA. The cost was tremendous, so it is not a easy decision, bu...

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Leliel was not easy to kill. It rendered the Evas completely powerless, and required the deus ex machina of Unit-01 going berserk in order to be defeated. That's because they didn't know the only thing they needed to do is waiting for the EVA to go Berserk and that's it. Hence it was pretty easy to...

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Dunno what's going on with Armisael. You see what I mean ? Even the core is a weird thing about Armisael. One thing I forgot to mention is, whereas the other angels have a very complex form, or "detail" shape if you want (humanoid monsters or plain monsters, trippy things...), Armisael lo...

Re: If Evangelion had a clearer approach, would it lose its charm?

^But the mechanics of souls are Impacts are relevant to the plot that unfolds. Maybe we could have been gotten a better understanding of the third impact if the information were a bit more abundant throughout the show...

Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Maybe it's just me, but I think Armisael is the only Angel I feel like knowing more about it, because it seems it's capable of doing things that defy all logic or explanation, like shifting blood type or shape, rotating weirdly, "reviving" all previous angels (I mean, wtf), etc. To me, it'...

Oh, cmon. You got to admit, a lot of things concerning the plot could have been established a lot better in order to make things more clarified, such as the mechanics of souls, the mechanics of Impacts, etcetera.

Re: The Significance of "Shadow Bone"

In psychoanalysis, the phallus in a woman often refers to the symbolic lack of a penis, just to throw that one out and quickly (you know, the castration of the mother and all that craziness). With that being said, I think this is just a shadow. The child (Shinji) can also symbolize castration by his...

Re: If Evangelion had a clearer approach, would it lose its charm?

I wouldn't say EVA has a tough approach. It's not an easy approach sometimes, but that's because the amount of themes involved in the series. Lain, Texhnolyze, Boogiepop Phantom, these have a much more tough approach. EVA makes it easier because the Angels and the gradual characterization. If EVA lo...

Re: What would the EVA characters be like now?

I am not sure if the characters in NGE could cope with their lifes two more years, to be honest. If we take out EoE, everybody is in deep crap by the episode 24. Gendo and Rei, for example, just live for one goal. Once you lose it, there's no point for them to live anymore. Asuka probably would end ...

First cross-shaped "awakening" of the EVA-02

Something that always bugged me in the first part of EoE is the "mechanics" of the awakenings of the EVAS. EVA-02, for example. He activates himself in the lake... or not? Because eventually he enters Berserk mode, which make me guess that the first time he doesn't activate himself, but As...

Re: What You Did NOT Like About Evangelion

I think you should watch episode 16 again. I did. What point are you trying to make? In that episode we don't see anything new about Shinji's childhood. He was abandoned with a bag, that's it. You mean we see a young Shinji in the train? Yeah, we see Rei and even Asuka in EoE too (and Tōji as well)...

Re: What You Did NOT Like About Evangelion

I think the idea is that Gendo was sending Shinji to live with his teacher. Which is why he had a bag. That's why the trauma was inside the train: Because, while in the station, he was still with Gendo. He was only alone after he was in the train. But, he seems to have somewhat repressed the actual...

Re: What You Did NOT Like About Evangelion

His father abandoned him at a train station That would explain something , but all I see is Shinji with a bag. That implies he was left in a train station? Maybe Gendo was like: "Shinji, pack your shit and get out". I mean, why is Shinji crying if his father is leaving from the train stat...

Re: Rick and Morty

I was talking with a friend who felt that the way The Rickshank Redemption handled the divorce of Beth and Jerry was done poorly, even if he felt it was time for it to come eventually. I could see where he came from, but considering how much the show subverts expectations, I'd wait to see how it pl...

What you've said is exactly why I don't expect them to live up to the original. I don't want to experience franchise bias. I don't want to put them side by side and judge them. You said it turns a good product into a mediocre product. Why can't I just enjoy the good product AND the better product, ...

Re: What You Did NOT Like About Evangelion

The train sequences make sense just fine to me. I don't see how what Reichu says contradicts what I said; they really go hand in hand. Trains are linked to Shinji's insecurities, and therefore becomes the setting of his personal hell. Oh, I see. I thought you were giving another different interpret...
