Asuka/Kaworu is rare enough (and I've committed half the examples I know of); and yes, it does end badly, though with Angst rather than random violence.

In the flash game, at one point, one of the options offered is to kill Kaji (as opposed to, uh, "write off" Kaworu). Just depends who you've set your sights on.

Consistent sizes are one thing this series is not good at, and not only for the Evas. A first quick search for the size of a Renault Alpine indicates that the V6 model is 69.1" wide, which would back the "tall Misato" assumption, despite the ID card details later.

The manga starts out slightly different, with Rei piloring an Eva against Sachiel, and Shinji seeing their battle while he's waiting for Misato - and diverges more as time passes. Asuka's arrival in vol4 is completely different (and so is Asuka, really).

Actually, the official heights of the characters are oldtype Japanese - Misato is in the low 160s of cm tall (about 5' 4" +/- 1")
