Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

If DarliFra is the new NGE it's in the way that it handles the symbolism it uses. I fail to detect anything about Darling in the FranXX which invites comparison with NGE . Naomi didn't even have a prosthesis for her missing right arm in the last, hand-holding, scene with Ikuno. Not did she or they ...

Re: [Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

I am not upper class - to think I am is to fundamentally misunderstand the British class system. You don't graduate into the upper class. I suppose I scrape into the upper middle class. I fit Wikipedia's definition of it to a T, though - born in South-East England, arts professor for a father, board...

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

(3) Hiro releases her and also himself; their naked disembodied spirits float off into the void hand in hand to start a new world ( Ideon ending). Check. Though after floating around for a bit they actually return to the old world, as in: Hiro and Zerotsū's spirits, their bodies having been destroy...

Not upper (my mum came from a country vicarage; my dad from the slums of Sheffield). But yes, I’m afraid to say I was somewhat privileged in my upbringing. Sorry about that, but there’s nothing I can do about it now.

Hiro and Zerotsū's spirits, their bodies having been destroyed or combined into whatever Strelizia is called next week, return and inhabit the baby, giving it a serious case of split personality

Re: FLCL: Seasons 2 and 3

I haven't caught up watching this yet (following my enforced non-streaming or download period, aka holiday in deepest nowhere), but while getting organised I note that the title of episode 5 (Fool on the Planet) is the same as that of the greatest hits compilation album (and its new title song) issu...

Re: FML general thread [8]

I won’t tempt fate putting this in the RML thread. My Web and Mail servers are in my attic where they must be getting insanely hot in this heat-wave while I’m away. Luckily, perhaps, before leaving I thought to put a big office-type fan up there to move the air around them, and right now they are st...

More enlightened parents seek to prepare their children to handle whatever the world might throw at them (they can't anticipate what will come after they are gone). They do not selfishly attempt to modify the world for the convenience of their children (though they may, for instance if politically m...

Re: Favorite NGE Release?

The Blurays are very smart (but being perspex are extremely delicate and liable to scratches); but as a package I prefer my robust steel box of the Platinum edition (R2 version), which has individual DVD cases with all the cover pictures, a thick booklet with all the notes from the separate disks co...
