Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

The Truman Show is on Netflix. I just noticed that when Truman is in his basement looking at pictures of his dad, we get a quick glimpse of the inside of his stash box, and there is what appears to be marijuana wrapped in plastic. I find this exceedingly amusing because 1) the entire world is aware...

Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

Finally finished series two of Les Revenants . Man... just, I don't know, man. It hit me, but it was also disappointing. Disappointing but still oddly satisfying. I guess it answered all the wrong questions for me, focusing on the characters that I was least invested in, whilst being high quality te...

Aww, man, I probably won't make it in to my store until next week. Really looking forward to Rebirth. Until then; yes, please use spoiler tags. Gratiuitously. Or else.

http://i.imgur.com/x4N1pi7.jpg My LCS finally got in the back-issues I was after of The Goddamned . Talk about some wild stuff. I'm enjoying greatly, although I find the anachronistic cussing a little disjointed and out of place but it's something that you almost end up acclimatising to. Stylistica...

Two of my all-time favourite albums that to me are all about Instrumentality: In Rainbows by Radiohead and ( ) , or The Bracket Album , by Sigur Rós In Rainbows , as with a lot of Radiohead/Thom Yorke music, invokes feelings and imagery of water, isolation, the primordial sea and the ever-oncoming a...

Re: Preacher

Funny you bring this up, and that you mention you're reading the comic; I'm actually planning on rereading it soon as well. Preacher was one of the very first series I read when I was actively getting into comics circa 2009-ish. Been feeling the need to revisit it for a while now. Don't know if I wi...

Cliff Martinez is a fucking genius. Seriously adore this guy's soundtracks, especially those for Refn's Drive and Only God Forgives (the latter being my personal favourite). Here's his theme for the upcoming The Neon Demon , his third collaboration with Refn: https://soundcloud.com/milanrecords/01-...

Spoilery preview for the DC Rebirth One Shot. I'm seriously considering going dark on the internet for the next week or two. Well, at least until I read it myself. I had too close a brush with the spoilers spill on Reddit earlier today for my liking. :cringe: I'm guessing Savage is Turok with the s...

Re: Superhero Films & TV

Saw X-Men: Apocalypse today with my partner. I liked it but I didn't enjoy it as much as Days of Future Past . It has a few really corny elements/parts and the film doesn't quite live up to its potential either; I think they could've taken the story to a lot more places. That said, I loved the ancie...

What a conundrum; I too loathe festivals, but I love Thursday. What does one do?

Re: Last Movie You Watched

I watched Session 9 (2001 ) last night and have to say, as someone who considers themselves something of a horror connoisseur, it was really chilling and engrossing. It's not perfect; there's one or two things I would've changed or tweaked, but ultimately it took me to a place I didn't expect and su...

Re: Comic Books!

So far War Mother is just a one-shot coming out of the 4001AD event going on at the moment; so it's in the same setting as Rai et al. I'm really quite looking forward to it, though.

Re: Comic Books!

Yep, it's a pretty tightly knit shared universe, although some are nicely set apart in their own corners, like Rai and the other future bits set in 4001AD, and Britannia looks to be in the first century. Also, I love how each of the new books have been given a detailed synopsis whereas Divinity III ...

Slowly making my way - and purposefully - through the final oversized volume of Knights of Sidonia . I've loved this series so much these past few years, I don't want the ride to end, but I MUST KNOW how it all ends. Hopefully Nihei does something new again soon. Elsewise, I can just look forward to...

This sucks. The man truly was a wonderful talent and gave so much, not only to the genre, but the medium as a whole.

RIP, Darwyn.

Just read adjectiveless Spider-Man (with Miles Morales) or Spider-Gwen instead; both of those are actually good Spider-Man comics.
