I don't believe I'm over thinking these shots in the slightest. Most filmmakers, not just Anno, think this way when they storyboard shots. No shot is a coincidence. Even shots in Indiana Jones or Spider-Man are given this much attention to the framing of a shot. Alfred Hitchcock even used th...

^ The "defeat" in high angle and "menace" in low angle can be reversed easily. I feel the need to point out this shot from Citizen Kane : http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l67/MalikZakiJamesha/citizenkanebestshot.png In this shot, a low angle is used to signify the defeat of Kan...

I enjoyed what I saw of Crystal Skull. And Episode 3. Emmensly. But the other two prequels phailed. Other then that I agree. Well, despite the fact that Harrison Ford was old and no longer kicking Nazi butt (Soviets instead, not half as fun for Jewish filmmakers to kick), it's still Ind...

[Film] The Lovely Bones

Peter Jackson's new movie The Lovely Bones in theaters this December.

The visuals are breathtakingly beautiful,
SPOILER: Show
and I like the the elements of the dead interacting with the living used won't be shown as horror as they normally are.

George Lucas was amazing all the way through the original Star Wars and the original Indiana Jones. After that, you can see him start to slowly loose his mind. (Howard the Duck, anyone?)

Dragon Ball : FAILS! It was the anime that made me shun an entire art form for over 10 years. Nothing else was ever able to do that to me. Not even gonna waist my time watching it to get an opinion. That's interesting. I guess you didn't see as little kid? I can't imagine 8 year old not...

Just saw the trailer today. Looks beautiful! Not a whole lot was given about it's story in the trailer. But I trust James Cameron. I can't wait to hear more about it.

What other great films maintain a constant dreamlike quality? It's the oddest thing in that I do know quite a bit about film but I seem to be TERRIBLE at thinking of films that fit into a certain criterion. Maybe try Last Year at Marienbad (a revolutionary film that allowed directors like L...

I like it. I do thing the drums are too loud in the mix. I like the sounds used in the mix, and the harmonies used are really good. There probably should be a little break into something else, and then end it with the original harmonies again. Just so that way it becomes less of a "loop piece&q...

I like the old American classics, like the Orsen Welles films Citizen Kane and Touch of Evil . I also like some of the more unheard of black-and-whites, such as The Devil and Daniel Webster . I admire Welles but I tend to think he's quite overrated. I love Kane, but most of his other films leav...

I've not heard of many people who go by nicknames in real life. interestingly enough. Everybody I know is referred to by name. I'm almost never referred to by my real name. It's always either one of my many aliases, or someone is mispronouncing "Stefan" (STEF-enn) as &...

I just got home from the theater. It's easily the best alien movie in the past 10 years, but that isn't saying much seeing as how the "best ones" in the past 10 years were the Men in Black movies and the long-dead Alien vs Predator series. But seriously, I actually agree with Roy i...
