[Merch] Evangelion Illustrations 2007-2017

http://neweva.blog103.fc2.com/blog-entry-5336.html 600 illustrations from the Khara years of Eva all in one 3,000 yen book. Seems like the Die Stern of NME. Not exactly the dedicated Takeshi Honda artbook I've always wanted but hell yes I'm buying this. Format: B4 (330mm by 257mm) 176 pages. Looks l...

Re: How does the entry plug land after ejection?

There is a parachute at the end of Q, it's the olive drab colored cloth on the right side of the screen https://i.imgur.com/TfeIfPe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bkeXpcd.jpg The entry plug landing system has been designed back during the original TV series and it's pretty much in every book that has the m...

This isn't actually an Eva reference/homage, but it's close enough

Re: A new Evangelion in 3.0+1.0

Machine translations are still absolute garbage for Japanese.

This does not mean a flying Eva because kitai (機体) is more like fuselage/airframe than aircraft and a generic term that mecha anime has adopted.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

DHL man brought me my books, and they're very lovely. I really wish Yamashita's handwriting was more legible. The notes on the rough sketch of illustration under the dust jacket would be nice if I could decipher them. But then again my Japanese is still incredibly weak. I'm really curious about how ...

Mitsuo Iso ANIMATION WORKS vol.2 - Now with 100% more Eva!

Earlier this year the God-tier animator Mitsuo Iso released his first animation compilation book: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4802130724/ However that was only part of his amazing portfolio, so now comes volume 2, which among other things will include his work on the original Evangelion series Publi...

Re: [Merch] Evangelion Figures Superthread [3]

I called it Super Eva because the distinct Yamashita elements from it are in the art (which his name being on the plaque also supports). The squared on the torso armor are there, the fork around the bicep, it's all there in the Super Eva just different colors. I hightly, highly doubt this will be a ...

You can't hotlink to 4chan, you need to rehost the image.

Anyway here it is:

Looks like we're getting a new version of Yamashita's Super Eva. Maybe this'll cause the old chogokin to tumble in price.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

Comparing to the monthly releases, a lot of the first part seems to have been combined into just 4 chapters for the first book. 2nd book it seems you get 13 monthly chapters rearranged into 11 in the book with chapters titles actually matching most of the time. Overall it appears to cover up to 2010...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

My copies will hopefully make it here next week. Since I'm a bit impatient could you take pic of the index page if there is any? Nice to see that there's a few more new images than just the book covers. Everything else sounds about as expected of compiled light novels. One thing to note that was in ...

Re: Evangelion's site and Facebook/Twitter covers updated with new images - First teases of Shin Eva

Clothing and other normie stuff has been like 90% of Eva merchandise for years now. There's annoyingly little proper otaku merchandise. The reality is completely contrary to the reputation Eva has for merch.

Re: List of future promotional events?

The landscape part sounds like a bad mistranslation on google's part. This is purely a technology conference and the khara talks sound like they'll be about the workflow and handling the massive amount of data needed for modern animation. If any of this does get reported on, I'd expect powerpoints o...

Re: What's the best Unit-01 model kit?

You really don't need a whopping 100USD for a good Eva-01 model kit. The super expensive ones are actually worse looking and more painful to build. If you want TV Eva-01: The old Bandai kit is still great, only 2,500 yen, ~23cm tall. Only drawback is rubber arms: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10014549 T...

I'm sure the western publishers will look at Japanese sales of the book and then immediately understand that this will never be financially viable.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

No. I already have that one and I don't consider it either large format or an artbook. It has some lineart, and some tiny, tiny illustrations. There's definitely room for a proper artbook, especially given the fact that in the monthly serializations some of the illustrations got shoved into the blac...

Every Eva Revoltech, and all the Kaiyodo Eva figures before Revoltech were all designed by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi.

Revoltech as a whole exists only because of his fetish for stylized dynamic action figures.
