Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now B/

I'm not familiar with that one; I think I'm missing the punch line. I feel left out now. :sniffle: The (male) MC turns into Alice (from Wonderland) as his hero-form, with the usual mahou shoujo henshin scene. And one of his (female) companions turns into Robin Hood, only without the centre-stage tr...

Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories

Apart from inspecting snatches to check the registration of sub-titles against the Blu-ray, and things like that, it's actually just a couple of months shy of 15 years, now. However, I still have notes from near that time , even though the earliest time-stamped record I can find of same here dates f...

I counted 6. ... Kaguya-sama: Love is War You :spew: but then seem to remark favourably about Kaguya , when that is exactly the sort of >School title that gets pre-emptively dropped from my "even thinking about maybe watching this season" candidates. Not sure how that computes. Now, I did...

Taking the ending at face value, everyone else ascends as stardust, while the two pilots are left in their own special damnation, in the anti-Eden, the wilderness at the End of the World.

Re: Debate the quality of Rebuild here. [2]

Let me ask you a question. Which is the better film, the first Matrix movie, or either of the Matrix sequels? There's a category error here when discussing this in the context of the Rebuilds. Those were announced as two and two halves from the get-go (even if the halves have become full length). T...

But I'm curious Professor, if you eliminate School/ Slice of life titles, how many of those "8" are left? School, SoL -- like Yuki Yuna , do you mean? Of the 5 watched so far, Boogiepop has a school setting/high school student main cast, and He and His Cat is SoL. Most likely to drop are ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now B/

This new Winter season feels pretty sparse. The only two shows I'm watching are sequels. Are we talking about the same roster here? I'm still in the 3-episode test stage for enough new titles (8-10 of them, none of them sequels*, not counting carry-over, about twice as many as last winter) this sea...

So it seems we're getting an adaptation of the "Do you even lift, bro?" manga (Danberu Nan Kiro Moteru?) from Dogakobo this summer -- https://natalie.mu/comic/news/316090 Are you ready for cute girls lifting cute weights? I know I am.

Gundam IBO is getting (at least) a spin-off mobage -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF7afHHfQA4

Not sure what the motive for making it look a bit like it's meant to be a crossover with Aria might be, though.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Being a one-week-delayed cheapskate, it's now that dead space between seasons for me. At the 13 episode mark, I'm putting JoJo part V into the long-term backlog; the fights may be as ingenious as before, but the characters are irritating -- apparently Araki was suffering from depression when he wrot...

Re: SSSS Gridman - Studio Trigger (2018)

A few trivia from the final scene : the actress in the final scene is Sakanoue Akane; as well as the Trigger paraphernalia in her room, there is also the Japanese equivalent of a Barbie-doll, called Licca-chan . Now, how would you normally expect that name to be romanized? black Obi Masaya who playe...

For me, it's been a relaxing year of NEETdom, where I've managed to check off a whole bunch of unglamorous ToDo-list items around the house that I'd been living with/working around (scrubbing the bathroom floor, properly unclogging the kitchen sink, upgrading the central heating controller to one wi...

Re: SSSS Gridman - Studio Trigger (2018)

The CGI works better if you think of it as portraying men in rubber suits, rather than directly representing a mechanical hero fighting kaiju . Also, I just hated the short blonde girl that kept on kicking the poor dude. It took me a while to figure out who you meant, as Borr was obviously a ginger....

everything to do with how NERV mucked up Ritsuko's life for little reason, and same with Misato. Exactly so. They are both what might vulgarly be called "Christmas cakes" -- spinsters approaching the status of old maids -- who have given the best years of their lives to Project-E and its ...

Re: SSSS Gridman - Studio Trigger (2018)

Yes -- a solid show, where they did manage to stick the landing, staying within the previously established Gridman context (no sudden aliens reveal/into space finale this time), and resolving the central conflict they'd set up. Plus, having stumbled upon the live-action series on the way to the fina...
