I was finally able to watch Blue Christmas today. I consider it worthy of recommendation anyway but if you're interested in Hideaki Anno's influences then this one's well worth your while. It's evident just from that trailer that you can't see anymore (Here's another back...

For a moment I thought Anno was the one on the right and he'd suddenly gained a lot of weight.

More Steven Universe.

For the record, series creator/showrunner Rebecca Sugar said in a Reddit AMA:

Steven and I watched all of Eva in 2 days which is a very bad idea

I'm just re-noticing this thread and consequently I'm just noticing Numblr's Tumber translations. The most interesting part to me is this: Takekuma: Do you dislike people? Anno: Umm. Well, before people, I dislike living things. I don’t like animals either. The fact that I don’t eat meat...

Just realized why "Another time, another place" is familiar. It's the opening text for Streets of Fire . Streets of Fire was a big hit in Japan (and nowhere else) and has influenced various anime, so my farfetched hope is the short will begin with that text and then proceed wit...

Interesting that they would include two from the original series timeline...very interesting.
I think they messed up. Someone should let them know so they can correct it for the Blu-ray.

The most similar stuff to Eva is Anno's other stuff, particularly Shiki Jitsu and his episode of Re: Cutie Honey.

And what was Akira's budget, $11 million?

Little Nemo's budget... $35 million?

All right, Yamaga, gimme the most lavish full animation Japan's ever produced and I'll be satisfied.

Re: Evangelion Blu-Ray HD Remaster Announced!

I'm thrilled about this but don't have much more to say. Wait, actually: Khara now has the complete copyrights. I completely missed this. When did it happen? Last I knew NGE ownership was a mishmush between Khara and GAINAX with Khara only completely owning NME but I haven't really kept ...

We can now expect with reasonable certainty an Evangelion 4D ride.

I personally can also expect with absolute certainty to never have the chance to experience it.

On the bright side, it could never possibly live up to what I'm imagining it could be like.

Are we sure this counts as "changing" the title? The first three movies are 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 but also Jo, Ha and Q. This could still be both || and 3.0 + 1.0.

I was only able to watch in a very laggy stream, but it looked like they painted out the nipples.

I wonder who got the job of going through the movie and erasing the nipples and how much he or she got paid for it.

Clutch Cargo's creator outright said he didn't consider it an animated cartoon.

The cheapest looking show I've ever seen is 12 Oz. Mouse. To make a show look any cheaper it'd probably have to be text based.
