Re: An Observation on the Evas

I don't buy into the idea that the Eva's 'bestial consciousness' is something truly innate and unavoidable, like it's some hidden secret nature being released. For one thing, think about what the Evas are cloned from. Adam and Lilith aren't weapons -- i.e., they weren't designed to be rampaging mon...

Re: An Observation on the Evas

I found my old draft (mixing canons a bit for some of the examples): [some introduction] Personally, I think there are five "layers" in the mind of an Eva (if you have ever dealt with Freud's iceberg-scheme, you have a good idea of the basic structure): The "top layer" are the ve...

Re: An Observation on the Evas

Personally, I think they are closer to the freudian iceberg model: The direct control inputs and the neural connection are the consciousness of the Eva, the soul inside the preconsciousness, and the instincts of the beast the unconsciousness. I have a pretty elaborate draft about this laying around ...

Also this arrived as a "throw-in" and I expected it to be a strategy guide for an Evangelion video game. Nope, it's an actual Eva card game. I'm floored by it, it looks great: https://i.imgur.com/ueTklCU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZiTmkhj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Bln8Dhz.jpg https://i.imgur.c...

Re: First half or Second half of EoE: Which was better in your opinion?

I'll have to go with the first one, the siege on NERV HQ is simply one of the most brilliantly executed and thrilling depictions of a modern day losing battle. On top of everything that goes on with the Evas

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

Some good news -- Yuichiro Umehara, Goro's VA is recovering and getting back to work. Phew, very good to hear. Loved his voice acting, would be a real shame if he wouldn't be able to do it again If the series had merely been bad or even just mediocre, probably we wouldn't. As it is, even if I perso...

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

The older posts in this thread suggest something different, really. A lot of people in here went from "this is a good show and fun to watch" to "Ive been telling you that it is shit all along" with little to no transition

Re: Project EVA - RPG Maker XP

I feel like Evangelion games in general are very hit or miss. Something lighthearted and action arc-ish would probably work for me (especially if it includes characters other than the main three, preferrably extracanon ones too), but I don't think there is a common denominator here

For the sake of not posting a list of pretty much the entire soundtrack, I will limit myself to three themes from NGE and Rebuild each, excluding the Opening, Endings (including Komm, süßer Tod) and remakes of songs. NGE: Rei I Angel Attack The Beast II Rebuild: Angel of Doom It will mean Victory Da...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

I rewatched Pacific Rim the other day, and am very pleased to see that
a) the film is still great the second time and
b) the German dub is almost as good as the original English one (apart from a couple of lines that simply don't have the same impact)

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

Apparently in the June issue of Newtype, Nishigori was interviewed, and in it he said that he meticulously planned out things from episodes 1-15, then figured that "things would develop naturally from there on." Which probably explains why the fight against the klaxosaurs and the Zero2/Hi...

Something that I had a couple of times was that the joint was slightly offcenter, and you are then (unintentionally) trying to move it in a direction its not supposed to be moved

Re: [Merch] Evangelion Figures Superthread [3]

Am I the only one that absolutely despises when they put high heels on Evas? Nope. I dont like it that much either, and if Discord convos are anything to go by, Reichu bacomes Rage-chu when she sees it (I'll see myself out for that pun) Although I do like the design of Type Beta, despite the ...
