Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Apparently Martin Scorsese is onboard to produce a origin story for the Joker set in the 80s. If anybody can make a crime film with a psychological touch, it's Martin fucking Scorsese. Count me in.

Re: Rebuild Instrumentality Theory

Unit-01 is heavily implied to be one of the four Adams in NTE. Unit-13 as well.

Re: Let's Watch NGE Together! Unofficial Commentary Thread

^ Agreed. The opening episodes of NGE fit the Heroes Journey quite well. For NTE, Anno claimed to want to make Eva into a tale, and having that foundation for the Heroes Journey already present made that translation easy. Rebuild 1.0 is an even more concrete example of the Heroes Journey with just a...

Could be some Haruhi Suzumiya type nonsense where Shinji subconsciously influences the world he created.

Re: Let's Watch NGE Together! Unofficial Commentary Thread

Alight, just finished episode 02. Here are my fresh thoughts: The episode begins where the first one left off. Shinji has agreed to pilot the Eva, and is ready to face the Angel. He's told to just concentrate on walking. As he takes his firsts steps, he stumbles and falls. The metaphor is that even ...

I mean, he died either way. (Oops, spoilers? Go watch TTGL already). The idea behind the support is immortal. Even in death, Kamina believes in you.

West Coast in Los Angeles. Luckily it's at a reasonable time here, because there's no way I'd be able to wake up early.

Re: If Shinji were to die in the final film.

Do negative experiences cancel out positive ones, or do they build upon each other into something gross and complicated? Also, how heavily do these negatives weigh in this instance? Do we know for sure? Is it enough to erase entirely any and all empathy for someone? Is it possible to forgive, and to...

Re: Let's Watch NGE Together! Unofficial Commentary Thread

One thing that occurs to me now about episode 01, and what makes if unique as a pilot episode, is that it ends as Shinji chooses to pilot the Eva and face the Angel. The fight itself isn't important, and is even pushed back till the end of the episode 02. Aside from the Angel fight, episode 02 is ev...

Re: If Shinji were to die in the final film.

^ Are you suggesting it wouldn't hurt Asuka and Misato if Shinji died? After all the positive experiences they had together? Complicated as theit relationships are now, they'd have to be sociopaths not to feel any empathy toward Shinji's death. The opposition between Shinji and everybody else isn't ...

Re: Star Wars

I wouldn't discard the possibility of a Star Wars film set in the Old Republic. There's plenty of demand for it, and I'm sure the SW story group is aware of it. The new canon is already exploring alternative factions worshipping the force with the Bendu, the Church of the Whills, and whatever Snoke ...

Re: Star Wars

Wait. You condemn the Obi-Wan film (that we know nothing about yet) for being fanservice full of references and cameos to make nerds clap, and yet you want them to adapt KOTOR into a film? Wouldn't that be the ultimate fanservice?

Re: Star Wars

Yes, I want the introspective character study for Obi-Wan. Have him struggling with finding his inner peace. Get him swept up in a small, but emotional adventure. Make it a Western.

Re: Star Wars

I admit Han Solo is the character spin-off film nobody asked for. Obi-Wan is another story however. I've heard plenty of people asking for this, and specifically for Ewan McGregor to return. There's a lot of story to be told between Ep III and IV for Kenobi, and it would be nice to see him fulfill a...

Re: Star Wars

I can't wait to see another movie full of reference to make nerds claps and cheer, carefully planned plot points not so different from what has already been done in the original movies to not alienate the "hardcores" and cameos of characters from the OT. :um: Me neither. :D Oh, you mean t...

Re: Star Wars

I really hope they keep it small. I want an Obi-Wan Western similar to Unforgiven. I want him struggling with his faith as a Jedi, his guilt as a failed teacher, and his burden of looking over Luke. This film should be about him finding clarity in his purpose. Please no flashbacks. You can get so mu...

Let's examine our first shot of Nerv HQ from the outside: http://i.imgur.com/6Pr5btXm.png We have three parts. Primarily, there's the pyramid; this is Nerv HQ itself. On the left, taking up the majority of the space in the frame, is a lake. The lake is an inverse pyramid digging into the ground. The...
