Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

No one ever said making mistakes was inherently bad. It's only bad when your plot requires that everyone make obvious mistakes that real people would never make purely to serve the needs of the plot. I don't think this is a particularly opaque concept, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to why you're pla...

This logic does not compute for me. How is having a plot full of people and structures making mistakes inherently bad? Again, I fail to see the objectivity behind all this.

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

At that point everyone in power as well as everyone they hire is carrying the idiot ball, which is its own problem. There's another theme of the movie: even the gods and the powers that be aren't perfect. David is disappointed by his creators, the same way Halloway and Shaw are disappointed by thei...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

The capitalists in this franchise haven't exactly been shown to be competent either. Who says they're any better at their jobs than the scientists? Another huge part of this movie is using power simply because you can, and not because it's entirely understood. Weylin himself had a deadline consideri...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

It is generally not possible for an idiot ball to be used brilliantly, as proper use of a character's ignorance, stupidity, or essential nature does not involve carrying the ball. The idiot ball by definition involves characters acting out of character and contrary to what the narrative's establish...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

If you're acknowledging that an idiot ball was needed to make them happen, then yes. This is where you and I disagree then. An idiot ball is a plot device like any other, sometimes used brilliantly, and other times just used. The usage of an idiot ball in of itself does not make something bad, and ...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

Are these things, such as the hammerpede scene, still objectively bad if I enjoyed them and didn't mind the idiot ball that needed to be carried to make it happened? What's wrong with seeing idiots get killed off due to their own idiocy? Being that it's a trope in horror films, it's something of a t...

Re: What are some of the good traits you can say about Asuka?

Remember the episode Asuka come home early from her date? She found Shinji practicing his cello and complimented on his playing. This was also the episode they later kissed. I believe this is the one episode were they connected the closest.

That movie creeped the hell out of me as a kid, but I eventually grew to love it. This is exciting news indeed.

While I didn't know NemZ personally, we worked together as colleagues here on the site for years. I always held his opinion in high esteem, finding myself agreeing with him more often than not. Even though I joined the moderation team well before him, I kinda disappeared for a while and by the time ...

How about that? :w00t: Just in time for the end of the semester and before my birthday.

I guess that just leaves KH3 on my E3 wishlist.

Kaji and Kaworu are the two only characters that accept Shinji as he is; they actively try to understand Shinji, and they hold little judgement against him nor do they have any expectations of him.

Re: E3 2017

Also I had kinda given up hope on SO3 being re-released in the west after they only released it in Japan, didn't know they were still teasing it on social media. Square Enix Europe has recently trademarked the english title of the game, "Till the End of Time", and I guess english versions...

Square Enix has been teasing images of Star Ocean 3 on their Instagram, so I'm hoping we get a North American release date soon.

Other than that I'd just like to hear some news about Kingdom Hearts 3.

Because she cares about him still.

Re: Manga bonus chapter and 3.0

It seems to me that the resemblance to both Asuka and Mari is intentional, and therefore there must be some connection between them and that lady. That lady may also be the link that connects their back stories as well. Maybe Asuka really was a test-tube baby this time around and Mari is her long lo...

Re: Should Asuka die in the final film?

So WILLE would be better off without him, whom they labeled as an impact trigger, and Misato and Asuka would be glad to get rid of him? Not necessarily glad to get rid of him, but it might be the safest option. As Kendrix pointed out, however, this is in contradiction with their emotional feelings ...

Re: Rei's Diet

I think an important question to ask is, "why did the author feel that this detail was important to this character?" Yeah, it could just be for the hell of it, something to help distinguish a character from other characters, but this is Eva, and most of these things have a more significant...

Re: Misato as Nerv Tactical Operations Officer

RE: Israfel: wasn't the entire operation her idea? What did Kaji have to do with it (I honestly can't remember)? Misato specifically chose Asuka and Shinji to work together (as opposed to him with Rei), and I'm pretty sure she would have come up with the choreography for the "dance" too. U...
