Re: Sadamoto fighting on Twitter, denying war crimes and discriminating Koreans, possibly falling out with Khara

He may have changed his mind since then, seeing as how his most political works (Shin Godzilla) don’t have any of those political tendencies. Sure, he criticizes aspects of a democratic Japan in that film, but he ultimately decides that democracy is worth it in the end. But even that all might just...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion

So, I sat down with a friend and watched a couple episodes of the dub and the dub of the first two rebuild films. I really didn't enjoy the dub of rebuild in fact I think it's worse than the ADV TV dub and don't know how much of that is Greenfield's influence as a director with those actors. I just ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

I'll have to check out the manga since I really like it! I had a final coming up and skipped the gym to study one day then watched it and felt so gross and guilty. I really love the show though and even talked to my personal trainer about it since he likes anime too. A silly example was a time we we...

Has anyone been watching "How Heavy are the Dumbbells you lift?" I've been really enjoying it and even listening to the Opening and Ending when I'm at the gym! I wish it wasn't so ecchi sometimes though so I could share it with more people!

Re: Shin Ultraman

I wonder how "based on the original" this will be. I mean we already have a "based on the original" film in Ultraman (2004) called Ultraman the Next by fandom, which Anno seemed to be inspired by in the first 2 rebuild films. I would kind of prefer a new unique spin on this but s...

Re: Shin Ultraman

Eva 3 + 1 will end with another Adam's preview that leads into Shin Ultraman! This is like how in the Antlar episode from the original Ultraman has the Aliens worshipping an Ultraman like statue that ended up being Noa from Ultraman Nexus to show that Noa can time space hop as a deity.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

The first thing I did was look for the Megalon art because of Jet Jaguar! As for the release itself I was hearing my wallet cry because October is when the Blu-Rays for Ultra Q and Ultraman were coming out as well but thanks for the heads up about the Barnes and Noble sale. I was surprised with all ...

Do you think Gendo dyes his hair?

Sorry for the silly topic but hey that's what the Chit-Chat sub-forum is for right? I was looking for some information on Gendo and scrolled to the wiki and noticed his age. Once you're 48 I'd assume most people are at least going grey right? I suppose in a world where people can have blue or purple...

Re: First image of "New Unit 02"

When did Jet Alone get so "samurai-esque?" Really reminds me more of a Sengoku Basara design than Jet Jaguar at this point. Is there something like Jet Alone Prime for this universe that looks so samurai like?

Re: Scribe Sign-Up Sheet

Would anyone be interested in greater additions for Ultraman in the "Tributes to Other Fiction in Neon Genesis Evangelion" page? I've been rewatching Ultra Seven and found a few here and there. Since it isn't "lore" or anything I was unsure if people would even care or if other p...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

Even outstanding new titles like Yuasa's Devilman Crybaby only last a few months nowadays and there's plenty to discuss with that as well. There's just way too much anime getting released now that the only things to become "classics" the past few years are long running shonen stuff.

Re: Disney's Live Action Little Mermaid.

I haven't seen any of these live action Disney remakes and let's be honest the only one that has any chance of being good is Mulan if they make it an over the top Wuxia film but disney would be way too cowardly to do that.

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

Sorry if what I was saying wasn't making myself clear but I'm just trying to say it's a bit crazy that a 1:1 Ultraman reference would be this lore and story important. Most of the 1:1 Ultraman references in the past have been more visual, Gendo talking to Shinji in the holding cell is a recreation o...

Re: "EVANGELION:3.0+1.0 AVANT 1 (from beginning to 10:40) Version 0706" discussion and prediction thread

I thought the Wunder looking like the carrier from Yukikaze was just an inspiration thing but now I'm wondering if all the drones and a few other things I'm seeing means that we're getting something like the Jam. To be honest I haven't watched 3.33 in years so I'm going to watch all the rebuilds the...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

I just worry that visually the Adam's were made from Ultraman going backwards. Ultraman is a being made entirely of light and only looks like that after fusing with a human. Could their designs really be so visually significant to the plot at large if the design sheet was literally just "ultram...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

I just worry that the visual cues of the Adam are clearly made to resemble the Ultras as much as possible and to work backwards from that for plot significance would be odd. The "Third Eye" and lack of core on the one Adam is just because Ultra Seven's color timer is on his forehead. Zoffy...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

8 Man After was a really interesting unique take on a classic show. The old 8 Man show was from 1963! It was a robot super hero who bizarrely would power up by smoking energy cigarettes. It's cute and pretty fun, certainly better than the old Marvel cartoons. 8 Man After was a 90's OVA that re imagi...

I'm seeing takes that Khara's translator is a literal Pedophile Nazi for liking Girls und Panzer art. We're really getting to experience what it would be like if Evangelion came out in 2019 at this point.
