Re: Anno statements about End of Evangelion

I know this interview (also glad it didn't come out the way they originally wanted), I'm just wondering if Anno ever commented on EoE after it was made. How to treat it in the context of the whole show.

Anno statements about End of Evangelion

I've been looking around different interviews and I'm wondering. Is there any interview in which Anno makes any statements about EoE? I've been discussing the endings with somebody and they were basically saying that the tv series had the real ending and the film is just an additional/alternative on...

Re: Berserk

This perhaps goes without saying, but I encourage you to keep an open mind. And as with many of the best, richest works, more than one pass may be necessary. Well, I do keep up with it. Just read the newest chapter recently actually. I can still enjoy it to some degree, but it is kind of on a diffe...

Re: Berserk

I saw the anime some time ago but read the manga recently and I must say, in some sense it was amazing in another it was a terrible dissapointment. The amazing part is the manga's Golden Age Arc. I mean holy shit, the character dynamic between Guts, Casca and Griffith is some of the best I've seen i...

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE

Question #3 appears to be an incomplete sentence. I tend to view NGE as a vast, multilayered tapestry. You could try reducing it to one particular thing, like "character drama", but that does NGE a disservice as both story and art. It's rich and textured and... I corrected the sentence. A...

Re: 3x3 thread

The character ones (including the giant robots as characters) are generally easy, even for shows one's not seen -- of those, the ones most likely to rate as tricky would be the "Which Gundam are you talking about here, or is it the whole franchise?" That's not to say that there aren't any...

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE

Thanks for the elaborate the reply, in general I'd understand your point of view. Though to me that presence seems a bit more detatched. It's more like in the Cthulhu mythos where the aliens are almost incomprehensible and while humans care about them there isn't much of the same the other way aroun...

Re: 3x3 thread

Is this supposed to be a guessing game? I feel like some of the images chosen are deliberately cryptic, and no one is listing the shows represented in their mosaic. I think you're a bit paranoid. I recognize almost all the anime posted so far. Some of the titles are just less known in general, but ...

Re: FLCL: Seasons 2 and 3

I'd really prefer if both Anno and Tsurumaki started working on some new original series instead. Sure, maybe Eva and FLCL were their best works, but they've still made great ones besides those.

Re: The importance of the setting lore and story in NGE

For one, the FAR backstory really creates this feeling of a near-omnipotent power hovering over the entire show. But the FAR are very subtly hinted in the series and in fact even the game doesn't really imply that they're present in any way in the story, they might be long gone. The angels, too, ar...

Re: 3x3 thread

Top right -- given your reaction, I probably misidentified that, as well as having finger trouble writing "*gatari". Ah no, it's not Monogatari. It's Tatami Galaxy. I can't get my mosiac to upload. Can anyone help me or show me how? What exactly are you having problem with? Create the mos...

Re: 3x3 thread

Yes -- "here is one I prepared earlier" in truth. I note you skirting past the non-shoujo magical girls, though. For yours, I dropped FLCL, and haven't watched Casshern, *gatarti, nor bottom middle (Angel's Egg?) Yeah, I haven't watched Nanoha and Yuki Yuna. Bottom-middle is Angel's Egg a...

Mr. Tines : I've seen that one before on /a/. Love Mushishi, Tutu and Eva. Liked Dennou Coil and Gankutsuou but wasn't really a fan of Simoun. I'm actually watching Mouryou no Hako right now hui43210 : Big fan of FLCL. Liked Akira, LotGH, Berserk and Revy is best girl. Thought Raxhephon was so-so a...

3x3 thread

Let's have a 3x3 thread. Pick nine pictures to represent your favorite anime, manga or both and then put them together into a mosaic using this site: http://bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php Usually what people do next is rate the other charts in a "x/y" formula. "x" being the number of...

Re: Why is a big 3?

The big 3 wasn't really a random choice of manga, it specifically related to three best-selling shounen manga. That's something you can objectively measure.

So here's a 3x3 of my favorite games, frankly I don't play that much but here we go: http://i.imgur.com/OsIPjdN.jpg The titles are: Portal 2 Shadow of the Colossus Fallout: New Vegas (2 could also take its spot, but it's nice to have a newer rpg) Planescape: Torment Pathologic Morrowind Okami Dark S...

Re: How do you find new anime series to watch?

By now I either watch classic titles or I search by staff members. Mainly look for shows by my favorite directors, scriptwriters or designers I haven't seen. With animators I might look for shorts by them.

Re: Anno's Animator Expo

Having seen them all, I'd say my favorite would be:
1. Kanon
2. Bubu & Bubulina
3. Me! Me! Me!
4. I can Friday by Day
5. Nishi-Ogikubo Station

So what shorts did other people like the most?

Evangelion does seem like the kind of anime Pynchon would like.
