After viewing The End of Evnagelion for the first time, I hated the entire series from beginning to end. I hated Episode 1 all the way to both versions of Episode 26. Then after a couple of days either something clicked or I finally snapped, and I realized that the series, EoE included, was brillia...

I can't hate a character who has a legitimate reason for being a bit of a bitch. Over the course of the series, we see that deep down Asuka isn't really a bad person and that her behaviour is just a defence mechanism, similar to how Shinji likes to isolate himself from the world around him. ...

I'm a ShinjixAsuka guy but the Rebuild films seem to be a lot more focussed around the relationship between Shinji and Rei. I think there was one moment in 2.0 that hinted at the idea that that Asuka might have feelings for him, but Asuka in the Rebuilds is so poorly represented that I don't...

The look that Ritsuko gives after that line is what sells it. Like she's thinking: "Low blow, bitch!"

But to me the characters never seemed like 14 year old. I think Anno doesn't remember that time too well. They seem a little older. That's a common problem with a lot of anime though. It's the same with Sailor Moon, where the characters are 14 when they look and act closer to 16 or mayb...

I don't know how much I am like Shinji as a person, Shinji's depression is the closest depiction to mine I have ever seen. There are even aspects I would never have publicly admitted to had I not seen Eva. Same. That feeling that you are unneeded and better off left alone, I know exactly wh...

Episode 9 “training” montage. It makes me the happiest of all of the scenes. Definitely this. Episode 9 is probably the most light hearted episode in the whole series. Just makes you feel good. I also really like the scene just before the montage where Asuka's talking about reclaiming her pride...

Not to go off topic, but this is the first I've heard of this one. Where was this stated? It's pretty common knowledge that NGE changed a lot during production, mostly due to how they were constantly racing to meet their deadline. For example there was originally going to be 28 angels inste...

Personally I'm just weary of Anno's bullshit, I can't even see it as a story anymore, but more of a thinly veiled 'otaku public service message' with a bit of story plot stuck on. I don't want this to turn into another Anti-otaku discussion but while I do recognise those und...

I'm a new fan to the series but I already consider Evangelion to be one of the best animes I've ever seen. I'm currently on my fourth viewing and it seems like I appreciate the show a little more each time. It's one of those shows that's so fun to rewatch and analysis. All the li...

I don't know about you guys but I always crack up when the movie cuts to that empty cinema. Like that was the actual reaction most movie goers had to the End of Evangelion when it was first released. All that's missing is one lone guy seated in the far back who shouts "WHAT THE HELL WAS...

This kind of makes me wish NGE was much longer (as it was intended). I think the impact of seeing everything go to hell in EoE would be a lot more heart wrenching if we had more episodes to get accustomed to the surroundings. I mean we barely see anything in Tokyo III besides when the Angels...

I'm all for the idea that Shinji and Asuka got closer on some level as the series progressed, but I don't believe the two ever had sex. I think something like that would have affected the two (especially Shinji) in a much more noticeable way. As for the brief "suggestive" s...

For how realistic the characters are, I find that to be a little too fast. Who knows maybe off-screen bonding was in order. Or maybe Shinji does look at Asuka (as every other boy in school)as being someone who is very attractive but he is able to hide it. We know from Asuka's side that ...
