Re: Evangelion's site and Facebook/Twitter covers updated with new images - First teases of Shin Eva

A bit off topic: can we expect the movie to be shot in 4k? Is it a standard that is getting adopted in the anime industry? We can at least expect upscaled 4K Ultra HD discs, maybe alongside 4K upscales of the previous three films as well. Even high-budget anime like Your Name and Mary and the Witch...

Re: Favorite NGE Release?

I personally love the 5.1 surround sound and clear picture quality of the remastered, but edited and altered editions (Renewal of Evangelion/Platinum Edition/Blu-ray Box), especially the Blu-ray Box. But I prefer the original, unaltered editions (Second Impact Box/Perfect Collection/Archives of Evan...

Re: Evangelion 3.33 different Aspect ratio

3.33 being in CinemaScope2:35:1 was amazing.
The only way it would've been more awesome was if it was in CinemaScope 55 2:55:1 (like La La Land) or in Ultra PanaVision 65 2:75:1 (like Ben-Hur).
Seeing another CinemaScope 55 film would be amazing, especially after La La Land two years ago.

Re: Share your Dreams (Part 2)

I had this dream once where ADV Films never went bankrupt, and I got to visit their main building with my girlfriend. I even met Matt Greenfield in said dream. He's a cool guy in the dream and he even gave me and my girlfriend two Paul Champagne Perfect Collection boxes of NGE as well as two Platinu...

Re: Evangelion Soundtrack Is So Good?!?!?!

Around a few years ago (I think 2016), one of our local broadcasting stations often use Misato's theme (the happy apartment tune) during TV spots for The Voice Kids Philippines. It sounds weird but in the Philippines, they do this all the time. And this is still a testimony to how awesome the music ...

Re: How did you first get into Evangelion?

First heard about it mentioned in the bonus features of the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Blu-ray. I don't have the Blu-ray but I did hear something about Evangelion from my Chinese bootleg DVD which had the Hideaki Anno commentary (unsubtitled, though). Nausicaä is what got me into foreign/ind...

I forgot that, but, yes.

Re: Dreams about Evangelion...

I had an Eva dream now. I was in a group therapy session with my girlfriend, Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and Misato. It pretty much felt like the therapy sessions I had when I was heavily depressed (thanks to school bullying) as a teenager mixed with EoTV. I also apparently made good friends with the Childr...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

How about VOBSUB subtitles for the already-processed AVI files? I did encounter some DVDs with fade-in/out in the subtitles. I am not sure if my player can display or read ASS files properly and I think VOBSUB is a better option for those players. And it would also be easier for converting to DVD, e...

Re: Dreams about Evangelion...

Not my dream and it's an online friend's dream where he was watching the TV series in the English dub, but instead of Spike Spencer voicing Shinji, it was Zooey Deschanel voicing Shinji. Her acting was apparently amazing and superior to Megumi Ogata. Plus, Shinji apparently sounded really adorable i...

Re: The End of Evangelion: Fansub Amalgamation

First of all, thanks for your input. And yes, I do think the (Silence) effect works better subtitled than with an overlay. But that's just me preferring the Japanese Design, though I just use the English Design to be more consistent with the Perfect Collection VHS subs. I haven't compared my English...

Do You Think Rei Was Un-Tanged Shortly After "Kimochi Warui"?

I think so... Especially if EoE was parallel to EoTV. When Shinji says "But maybe I could love myself" a few seconds before "Congratulations", we also hear Rei and Asuka saying the same thing in the original Japanese version (not the English dub, though). In Episode 25 and some o...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

I would suggest doing a quick update or an optional extra download for people who have the remastered Collection 0:1 if you ever put out your update for the subtitles before you get your hands on the remastered Collection 0:1. And I would wish for VOBSUB versions synced to the Perfect Collection DVD...

Re: The End of Evangelion: Fansub Amalgamation

The TV Series Blu-rays, even if they are nice and high-res, and sound great in 5.1, have an altered color palette and some edits from the TV version and the initial home video release. I keep switching back and forth from the Archives of Evangelion DVD BOX and the Neon Genesis Evangelion Blu-ray BOX...

Re: The End of Evangelion: Fansub Amalgamation

I checked the Platinum Edition subtitles if they have any differentiation on the numbering of Director's Cuts episodes (hint: the apostrophe). They have no apostrophe either when they just subtitle the Japanese titles. And the numbers are in word-form. So, maybe leaving the episode numbers without a...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

One of the biggest differences between the home video and TV versions is that Misato's beer is called Yebichu in the TV versions while it's Yebisu on the home video versions. You would also see hiragana typed out in the titles, which are removed in the home video versions. The previews are longer in...

Re: The End of Evangelion: Fansub Amalgamation

Actually, the Japanese episodes 25 and 26 had the episode numbers in old Kanji (I think, my knowledge of Japanese is very limited) while 25' and 26' were in Arabic numerals but without the apostrophe in Japanese. Also, Kiel is apparently a more accurate translation of Keel, but since this is just li...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

From what I know, the remastered Collection 0:1 had a different front and back cover design more in line with Collections 0:3-8. Specifically, the "Contains Episodes 1 - 4" and DVD logos are on the upper-right corner rather than the bottom, and the NGE logo is on the bottom rather than the...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

I do love the VHS subtitles for beng more flavorful and flowing better in English. And the Platinum Edition subtitles randomly censor some stuff for some reason even if they're not censored in the included English dub. For example, when Naoko chokes Rei for calling her an old hag, Naoko calls Rei a ...
