Re: EvaGeeks Forum Rules & Regulations

I would like to seek a clarification as to what is considered as unacceptable comments on each others' (posting) habits, as per the Mod action described in this post plus Paul's and my own comments following it. Because if advice to other posters is illegal, then we can as well shut down a large num...

Re: EGF: Has It Changed? How? [split]

Since a forum effectively does not exist apart from its members, those members in general are an inherent part of this discussion. Obviously personal slurs or attacks are never acceptable; but talking in principle about tolerance for the means of expression used by others or suggesting asking for c...

Re: Forum Wackiness

The actual problem is that Google (Chrome's maker) has unilaterally decided that any site not offering a secure connection, or a incorrectly configured secure connection, is inherently dangerous, even if there's nothing on the site that could potentially harm anyone or anything. This means users get...

Re: FML general thread [8]

So I have a new upstairs neighbour on the floor above my apartment (who has a dog, but this isn't about the dog, which is pretty quiet in general). We have a collective heating system, with the tubing running from the basement up through all the apartments. Since my new neighbour has been living in ...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

Trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZsG7WJVZv8 It's visually interesting, but we've seen good looking trailers for bad movies before. My experience with the Valerian franchise is rather limited, so I don't know if the story could be good or not. ...

Re: About a Mass Production Eva Figure

Depends on who you ask I guess (original price was 3,800 yen by the looks of it, about 40 bucks), but know that these figures were notorious for arriving broken in the box (especially the translucent variants).

Re: FML general thread [8]

Gorn is pretty horrifying. Even knowing it exists and people like it is horrifying. Oh no, gorn was not the problem - most of it is so crazily over the top that I involuntarily crack up any time I see any of it anyway (a bit like some overly bloody horror movies where the bright red blood pisses al...

Re: FML general thread [8]

While reading a daily comic on Danbooru I noticed the "amputee" tag (and its multi-thousands occurrence). I guess I should've known better than clicking on that tag on a site that also hosts rather risque (and more) drawings...

Re: Computer Stupidities

Most motherboard manufacturers are now in China, expect terse explanations in manuals (in most cases, multilingual) which requires you to Google for technical terms such as UEFI or M2 SSD. OEM versions they make, including server boards, requires more explanation, so thicker manuals, and also have ...

Re: An alternative Serious Discussion

Signed, sealed, and committed. (So far, anyway.) Posted a lovely quote from a lawyer friend of mine explaining the 9th Circuit's decision in simple detail. (I'd post it on EvaGeeks, but I don't want to spark something here that the mods are trying to diffuse. If you really want to read it, it's ava...

I remember getting through the Doom demo (way back in the 1990s) on easy only with a lot of trouble. Playing the game was freaking terrifying.

I think that was the moment I concluded FPS games weren't for me.

Kaiyodo recently reissued many of their old vinyl Godzilla kits, they are available on Hobby Link Japan.

...and then, only a few years later, the first mass-produced Japanese home computers came out, and all that was put into a dedicated ROM board, coupled to a Japanese layout keyboard. Is it just me, or have consumer motherboards been really dumbed down the last couple of years? My most recent PC date...

Re: FML general thread [8]

In the grand scheme, this is a minor thing, and I'll move on quickly. But for me, it's still a shock to the system that is both depressing and infuriating. My socialization analysis circuits go into overdrive trying to make sense of what happened, and get momentarily overloaded by how little sense ...

Re: Computer Stupidities

I usually have in sleep mode when I'm not using it or when I'm at work and then turn it off when I'm done for the night. I honestly thought turning it on and off all the time was the cause of this mess. I still can't believe my hard drive got messes up. I've had it for a little over a year and out ...
