And Millar, in turn, is the American Mohiro Kitoh. I'll be watching.

Re: FanFiction Requests/Recommendations/Discussion etc.

Well, there's always JimmyWolk's The Second Try, and its sequel Aki-Chan's Life, which is just plain adorable.

This picture is actually an illustration from a fanfic by marcoasalazarm (the same guy who wrote the fanfic series Superwomen of EVA , which you may or may not have heard of) showing Mari as a Tarzan-esque jungle queen with a pet saber-tooth tiger. Re: What manga are you reading right now?

I'm reading a manga that I tried to read a while back, and quit: Elfen Lied . I thought maybe I just wasn't ready for it back then, so I decided to give it another go and finish it this time. Do I think it's good? Not really. All of the characters are one-dimensional cardboard cutouts, the awesome p...

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions

https://orig00.deviantart.net/4512/f/2010/223/3/9/alien_equal_to_anime_by_zenki1389.jpg There was actually a chapter of ''Franken Fran'' than had pretty much that exact image as the punchline. Basically, a cosplayer wants to look exactly like her favorite anime character, so she goes to the title c...

Amen to that. I have seen things on DeviantArt--some of them Evangelion-related, mind you--that were not meant for mortal eyes.

Re: Tomie's True Identity? - An Analysis of Junji Ito's Horror Manga

I can't believe it took me this long to notice this, but not that I think about it, it's pretty obvious: A lot of Junji Ito's stories can be read as criticism of Japanese societal norms . For example, Gyo is about the atrocities of WW2 that Japan has yet to apologize for--the Death Stench is the res...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

The thing is, what has been seen cannot be unseen. And that goes for any genre, whether it's superheroes or giant robot anime or anything else under the sun. Once works have been created that exhibit the "dark underbelly" of these popular genres, those genres in their original forms are in...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Any Superhero universe when you peel back the layers ultimately devolves into either a dystopia (Civil War, Watchmen, Injustice) or an outright nihilistic apocalyptic hellscape (Old Man Logan, Irredeemable) Well, you could say the same for any number of other genres too. Like mecha anime--that's ho...

Re: DISNEY buys FOX

Didn't they try to do exactly that in 2004? And get turned down? Anyway, if you don't mind me making a wild-ass guess, I think Disney's next big acquisition is going to be. . . Sega. Here's why: Here's why: 1. While Nintendo has become closely connected to Comcast/Universal lately, Sega has no parti...

Re: DISNEY buys FOX

As it stands right now, there's just one company that rivals Disney in the number of fields of entertainment it covers-- Comcast, the only media corporation bigger than Disney. They own Universal Studios (both the actual film studio and the theme park), DreamWorks, Illumination Entertainment, NBC, a...

Re: News [NO POLITICS]

Germany has its military back , perhaps its time Japan was allowed theirs back too? I mean, they were both on the wrong side of WWII. The thing is, Germany has acknowledged and apologized for the horrific acts they committed during the war. The Holocaust is a mandatory part of every German child's ...

Re: News [NO POLITICS]

This isn't going to end well. I just know it. It's something that the United States does all the time, yet never seems to learn from: we come up with ideas to help other countries that seem friendly at first, but then we always act surprised when they turn out to have different interests from us. It...

Re: News [NO POLITICS]

I know Japan has been beefing up its military--ahem, its self-defense forces--but I'm pretty sure this is illegal somehow. After all, doesn't Article 9 prohibit Japan from possessing "offensive" weapons, such as heavy bombers, ballistic missiles, and aircraft carriers?
