Top Gun 2? I wonder what airplane is going to be the star of this one (the F-14 was retired in 2006, except in Iran).

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Now for Episode 5 of NTHT: So, Guy gets into a mock battle with another one of the child soldiers from Hellywood (I'm sorry, that name is never not going to be funny). He wins, but because King Hamdo is evil and stuff he still gets punished. Meanwhile two guys wearing Tusken Raider outfits sneak int...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

All righty then. Here's what I thought of the show so far. Episode 1- We meet our so-called "hero", who I'm just going to call Guy, since he doesn't really accomplish much of anything. Guy decides to climb up on a factory smokestack, as one does, where he meets a bargain-bin Rei Ayanami cl...

It actually did pretty well. It made $198 million on a $50 million budget.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

After an eternity of swearing not to, I've finally decided to cave in and watch Now and Then, Here and There . Partly because just I really wanted to have a new series, and partly because I thought it might be somewhat topical nowadays. As for how I'm liking it, that's a little more complicated. The...

Which raises a whole 'nother set of issues, since penguins don't typically eat anything of the vegetable persuasion.

Re: [LEAM] Would an Evangelion live-action movie have ever worked if it had been done right?... By Hollywood?

(I just noticed this) PEN PEN IS NOT REAL. He's a 'hot springs penguin' - he's a hypothetical cross breed between a penguin and the famous Japanese macaque So there it is right there. SFX barrier. Um, actually, is it harder to do SFX if it's closely integrated with live action or is it easy to put ...

I know the story is supposed to update every Friday. . . but where's today's chapter? Normally it gets put up earlier in the day than this.

This was the first Eva fanfic with which I became well-acquainted. I'm rather choosy when it comes to fan-fiction, and i've only read a handful of others since.

The thing is, being a Vader copycat is kind of inherent to who Kylo Ren is. He dresses up and acts like Darth Vader because he wants to live up to his grandfather's high standard.

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions

Since most of us are just using this thread to gripe about shows we don't like, I'm going to instead offer a truly controversial anime opinion. Gundam AGE . . . did not suck. Wait, hear me out! Granted, it wasn't the best of the Gundam series, but the way people talk about it you'd think it was the ...

I AM super worried about Justice League. I'm probably gonna see it anyway, because I want to give the filmmakers my money, which they need to make more (and hopefully better) movies, but I'm worried all the same.

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

What Nickelodeon really needs is an equivalent to Adult Swim. And I don't mean The 90s Are All That/The Splat. I'm talking about a dedicated primetime segment for cartoons too "adult" for Nickelodeon as we know it. There could also be some acquired anime series, reruns of Avatar: The Last ...

Re: Superhero Films & TV

We may get more of those regardless. Captain Marvel is due out in 2019.
As for Wonder Woman itself, an $85 million opening weekend isn't too bad for a movie with a $120 million budget (which is, incredibly, only about half what Batman vs Superman cost).

Re: Superhero Films & TV

Apparently, Wonder Woman is poised to have the lowest opening yet for any of DC's new slate of superhero movies, with an opening weekend of about $85 million. Admittedly, that should be OK given that Wonder Woman is going to have a lower budget than Man of Steel or Batman vs Superman.
