Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

It's been quite some time, since I've seen Haruhi, but I feel like you're both right at that front. I enjoyed it enough when I first watched it, but it might be one of those shows which are so deeply rooted in the time were produced, they don't quite work as anything else but time capsules. The thi...

The End Times?

In a few days' time the Federal Communications Commission will vote on whether or not to repeal its policy of treating all internet service and data provision equally--otherwise known as "net neutrality". If this is repealed, and it likely will be, it could result in only the largest, weal...

DC is already releasing a theatrical animated movie next year. Unfortunately, it's a Teen Titans Go! movie, so it hardly counts.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

I was never all that fond of either Haruhi Suzumiya or Lucky Star . The problem I have with these shows isn't that they're boring, but how poorly they've aged. They're both shows that came from studios trying to make what they think anime fans want to see, based on the stereotypes of the time. It do...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

As of now, Justice League has made $570 million worldwide. For a movie that cost $300 million overall and needs (according to most of the sources I've read) $600 million just to break even, that's not impressive. By all rights a Justice League movie, no matter how expensive it was, should have made ...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Well, the Avengers: Infinity War trailer is out and it is. . . well, it's certainly a trailer.

Speaking of which, the rumored budget for Infinity War is $1 BILLION. To earn that back, they'd have to be one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, up there with Avatar!

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

So here's something. Justice League isn't doing quite as well domestically as Wonder Woman , or even Suicide Squad . So far it's on track to earn about $100 million in its opening weekend (it's earned $96 million domestically so far, and the weekend isn't over yet). Internationally, it's another sto...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

The anime, I find nothing engaging about whatsoever. OK, maybe not nothing --it's always funny to see the lines from it that have become memes nowadays like "AIM FOR THE HORN", and the 20th anniversary movie was actually good. But taken as a TV show in its own right, it just doesn't hold u...

Here are the series I'm actively watching right now: Outlaw Star Kinda similar-yet-different to Cowboy Bebop , sort of like turkey is to chicken, or oranges are to tangerines. If you're looking for a groundbreaking, original story, you won't find it here. Normally, rehashed character types and setti...

Ironically, I used to not be a big fan of Junji Ito, but I think that was because I wasn't reading his stories with the right mindset.

Re: Tomie's True Identity? - An Analysis of Junji Ito's Horror Manga

I've been on a major Junji Ito kick lately, mostly thanks to a YouTube channel I found that plays dramatized "readings" of some of his manga. They've done The Enigma of Amigara Fault , Glyceride , a bunch of the Tomie stories, and part of Uzumaki ; they'll be doing Hellstar Remina this Dec...

Yeah, I'm a bit wary of it too. Probably gonna watch it anyway though. Good Marvel comedy: Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, original Thor, Spider-Man Homecoming, Deadpool (yes, I know it's not MCU).

Re: The Top 100 Anime of All Time (According To Japan)

I'm surprised to see Cowboy Bebop so low, and Digimon Adventure so high. Cowboy Bebop is, after all, objectively a much better show, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
