Re: The Script for Rei and Kaworu at the Train Scene

Yes, Asuka doesn't appear in the screenshot of the script at all. Interesting that Kaworu and Rei are highlighted, but not everyone's favorite Evangelion redhead. The whole reason I went out of my way to say that I didn't want to translate 寄り as "among them" is because it has the meaning o...

Re: The Script for Rei and Kaworu at the Train Scene

I've thrown the thread Nuke's way, so we can get an actual, authoritative answer on this instead of secondhand accounts and trying to divine meaning from machine translations The pertinent lines are C-641 and C642. シンジごしの1番線ホーム 男女のカップルら "Track 1 platform across from Shinji." Self-explanat...

Re: -46h (GENERAL)

That doesn't sound exactly right. Asuka tells Midori "who did this to the world" and expresses she's not going to feel right until she decks him. I don't think that sparks intent to murder in Midori or anything, since she doesn't even come close to confronting him until a whole movie later...

Re: 3.0 CRC in development!

Haven't heard anything yet. The two groundworks books are out now and I don't remember what the gap was like for 1.0 and 2.0, or if there was a gap, or if the order was the same. But maybe that sort of historical data could be helpful.

Hi, hello, yeah that's sorta what it says. But here's what MORE of it says. Underneath the bandage is a buzz cut and a craniotomy scar. Conceals wound but heavily hints at it. Also the clasp on the bandage doubles as a receiver, and her new hairstyle is described as "A marriage of half twintail...

Re: Why is Misato so poor?

For Japan, Misato's apartment is pretty big. From what we can see in the show, we know it has at least three rooms (one for Shinji, one for Misato, one for Asuka) along with an LDK area (Living, Dining, and Kitchen) and a bathroom w/separate toilet annex. This would be called a 3LDK apartment in Jap...

Re: [Anime] Kill la Kill

In any case, it would be just fine if they leave it at this, I'm satisfied. It got a single additional episode via OVA that isn't necessary, but ties up one or two potential loose ends. I think KLK ends perfectly well at 24, but 25 is a nice little treat. Like a single scoop of ice cream after you'...

Re: FGC translation for Rebuilds?

The role of a translator is to create a product which can be understood by people who are unable to understand the source language. In the case of Evangelion, the translator's role is to create an English product for people who don't speak Japanese. Japanese animation attracts people whose knowledge...

Re: The Angel-Hex Sealing Glyphs on Nerv's Logo

We get a lot more than that, since during the scene in Q where they show off the DSS choker, we get a list of glyphs linked to letters. It's not the whole alphabet, but it's a nice chunk.

Re: 3.0 + 1.0 Reactions

Anno mentioned it in a stage greeting, so the only way to know about it would be to read the Japanese articles/tweets talking about it, or rely on someone who translated the article into English. And even then you'd have to trust they didn't use google translation and mess it up.

Re: Evangelion 3.333 Bluray coming out on 8/25

It is a new master, I remember we had this conversation here. However, the original resolution wasn't even 2K-- because of how it was formatted on screen, it was more like a 720p render. In that same way, this is more like a 2K render upscaled at 4K. While there is upscaling involved, make no mistak...

Re: about the pilots being mentally/psychologically enginnered

In Japanese, it's not clear how much of this is literal and how much of it is figurative or metaphorical. I hypothesize Rei Q is a more manufactured "product" than the Shikinami series, but Asuka does say "Evangelion pilots like us", so maybe they're more similar than I think.

Re: The little things that made you laugh in 3.0+1.0

Rei Q cupping her boobs when watching Tsubame breastfeed takes gold for me, with one of the village grannies commenting "You should marry my son" to Rei Q when she puts on the old middle school outfit coming in with a silver. The scene where Sakura slaps Shinji and Asuka dryly remarks, &qu...

and WTF is that date? https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/b5/cb/7d/ME2SQKU_t.png It's one of the only dates we ever see in Evangelion. Unlike the series, Unit 01 doesn't have the 2014 date imprinted on the seat inside the entry plug, and we don't ever see any other calendars or anything like that. (There'...

A friend pointed out something interesting to me. Kensuke's way of showing his love for things and people is through his camera. In Shin, he stops filming WILLE military porn to film Asuka instead. If that's not affection, I don't know what is.

Re: How do you feel about NTE? + Rank the movies!

1) 3.0+1.01
2) 2.22
3) 3.33
4) 1.11

It's a tossup between Ha and Q, to be honest. They're both great films, but I enjoy watching 2.22 more than I enjoy watching 3.33. And 1.11 is a solid film, it's just the least innovative and doesn't bring much new to the party.
