Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

If you had told me in early 2013 (after I first saw Q) that we would get a new Star Wars trilogy fully released before the next Rebuild film was out, I would have laughed in your face...and then would have become sad because I would have thought that such a long gap would have been due to Anno eithe...

Re: Khara's 10th Anniversary - Exhibition 11/23-11/30

https://youtu.be/ndPzn4CMEC8 Months later we have a translation of an interview Anno gave at this event. In his own words he ran out of ideas after 3.0 and was overworked, the toughest point in his khara career. This basically confirms what I've long suspected: Anno did not have some kind of grand ...

Phasma is even more pointless than Mari in Rebuild. It's been an utter waste of Gwendoline Christie.

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

True? Didn't like it, or just got sidetracked? I read the synopsis and I thought it sounded like Perfect Blue with cyberpunk/sci-fi, which struck me as my kind of thing. Keen to hear your thoughts (minus spoilers, of course). The plot just wasn't going anywhere and unlike Perfect Blue , who had a p...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a bad movie Just from the trailer alone, it looked like it was going to be absolute shit and I had zero interest in seeing it.I was holding out some small modicum of hope that it might be passable fare, but it looks like I needn't waste my time. Thus, JW:FK will be...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

I was suggesting, metaphorically, that Pacific Rim is true to its anime/kaiju film/mecha influences and the dip in quality in the sequel is as if Americans tried to replicate it with the same fidelity that they brought over the feel of Ghost in the Shell, Dragonball, Godzilla (in 1998) etc. I know ...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

That would make sense, given that all of the tracks for Q were titled in French.

He has to be recording at least SOME material for Final. Hopefully, he cools it with the corny male choir tracks. Shit has been cringe.

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

I actually was able to enjoy Solo more than TLJ simply because I had less things to gripe about, with the major exception of the twist at the end. It felt pointlessly dark and not earned. I would have been able to accept it if the reveal has been, say, of Boba Fett, but Maul just seemed too dark for...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

To me, the photo and captions indicate that Tsurumaki and a production associate are working on storyboarding an action sequence with a brand new Eva unit that they don't want anyone to know about yet, as the precise name has been censored. My guess is that it's some upgraded form of Unit 01, since ...

Re: Eva 01 themed shinkansen train

I just recently learned that 3 of the Shinkansen train lines are named Hikari, Nozomi, and Kodama. So, basically all the Horakis are named after speedy trains.

I have absolutely zero idea what "David Lynch script" means. Please don't assume that everyone here - or even the majority - would always be familiar with whatever people's names you mention. You best sit your fuckin' ass down in front of some fuckin' Twin Peaks, son! And I don't mean dem...

Re: Evangelion Soundtrack Is So Good?!?!?!

In terms of all soundtracks across the franchise, I think that Sagisu peaked with his work for EOE. It contains some truly mesmerizing orchestral and choral pieces without it becoming cheesy or overblown....like the majority of his action tracks for the Rebuild films. I absolutely cannot fucking sta...

Re: Favorite EVA fanfiction

Strictly Ghosts isn't finished, in that Bagheera has said he may add more to it sometime; but it's gone a while without, and it covers its chronological limits satisfactorily. I suppose he might want to bring up some more psychological matters. It didn't really seem as though there was much more th...
