Re: The Legend of Zelda series

I am addicted to BOTW. It's definitely my favorite Zelda game, out of the 6 that I've played (this included). The sense of freedom is the greatest gift that Nintendo could have given back to the Zelda franchise and it's absolutely spectacular. I've completed about 105 shrines, found about 150 Korok ...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

I saw the Ready Player One trailer before Black Panther last night and I'm very excited for this movie. I don't care if it's good or it follows a by the numbers hero's journy story, I want to see a big battle with hordes of pop culture and video game characters. The book actually contains one of th...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

They took the "Marvel origin movie" formula of "Hero has badass moments, has a big fight, loses their powers, has to get them back in a moment of personal crisis, and fights a guy with the same suit/powers" and made it really fresh and well executed. They also basically gave the...

Re: Am I alone in having a love hate relationship with Elfen Lied?

Elfen Lied was a pretty cool horror anime that influenced Stranger Things (much better show imo). I had to look this up to make sure this was real, and holy shit, I can't believe I've never made the connection between 11 and Lucy before. I've only watched Elfen Lied once, about 7 years ago, and lik...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

I saw Black Panther this afternoon. It's a strong drama that says something about real world issues and takes some risks to do so, and a great action movie. The script is really tight and the direction and pacing are excellent. Marvel is really stepping up their game between Ragnarok , this movie, ...

Re: Why I Don't Like Mari

Except that these actions in questions are more or less copied from NGE. You can't use the defense of "we're telling a new story!" when you're relying on an old story for the vast majority of your plot, thematic beats, and characterization. It would be one thing if the rebuilds told a new...

Re: Rewatching the Rebuilds, and my thoughts

If you didn't know, I used to do YouTube videos once upon a time , and I've been thinking about getting back into that by making a video analysing the Rebuilds. Specifically, I want to analyse the criticism these films tend to get, and how most of it is based on some form of comparison to the origi...

Butch Hartman Gets a bit too real here. Talking about why he left Nickelodeon. Please define "too real." Because I watched the video and all he really says is that he's thankful for his time at Nickelodeon after being there for two decades and has decided to move on to doing more independ...

Marlon Brando and Richard Pryor got it on.

Also, contains this epic quote from Pryor's widow:
“It was the ’70s! Drugs were still good, especially quaaludes. If you did enough cocaine, you’d f— a radiator and send it flowers in the morning.”

Re: September being considered for release? (Grain of salt)

It will not be released in 2018. I'm 99.9% certain of it. Remember that our first teaser for 3.0 (Asuka in SPACE!) came in August of 2011 , more than a year before the eventual release date. The international title was released January 1st of 2012, and I think that was when the fall release date was...

Re: Blade Runner franchise

...I'm going to stake my claim on this and say that Blade Runner 2049 is probably one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. I adored it, I have not stopped analyzing it, and it will be part of my library very soon. I would dare say that it even surpassed the original (which I love). Yeah, I said...

Dances with Wolves, yo. Ferngully, yo. Tom Hanks to play Mister Rogers; millions of adults to weep publicly in movie theaters. It's really sad when I think I might be part of the last generation that grew up watching him as a child. Do Gen Zers even know who Mister Rogers was beyond a cultural refe...

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

Shinji's not Athletic, nor is the summer in Tokyo-3 that hot. Theres no way he'd be sweating that much. Furthermore, given the barebones the material he gives us it's not unreasonable the audience would interpret it that way. What would being athletic or not have to do with whether or not he sweats...

Re: Shikinami or Soryu relationship with Shinji ?

Peter Jackson's King Kong fell into when they also developed the characters that weren't Ann Darrow or Jack Driscoll. Petey Jack's KingDa-Ka was one film; NTE is a tetrology. Much more room for examining different characters within the narrative. Like PJ's King Kong, NTE would become too unfocused ...
